IDK if OP was trying to be funny...but this just totally diminishes Missy's accomplishment.
We all know MJ was a child molester not sure why you had to bring it up in this context.

because MTV was floating removing his name to the point where it made it into the press, and with the announcement came the confirmation that they don't give a fuck about molestation victims...

Take it up with Missy for accepting this award post-Leaving Neverland (she mentions Michael in her excitement tweet)

she mentioned the name of the award...still not sure what his child abuse allegations has to do with her accomplishments and winning the award. Make a separate post about MTV not changing the name.

the "exclusive" announcement on Variety talked about both Missy and the molester, so take it up with them

a lot of people still ignore it. lizzo has lyrics in her album referencing michael jackson for example and i stan ha

it's important to keep talking about it so it doesnt get swept under the rug, i dont think it diminishes missy's accomplishment but rather just points out the hypocrisy of celebrating art under the name of someone who used their position as an artist to abuse people

ok, so every time a woman achieves something...we are going to bring up a man? Just let her have this. No one is sweeping his accusations under the rug. People do the same thing with Michelle Obama etc, it's annoying.

lmao what? everyone, including artists - particularly ones that are going to have their names attached to this award - should be calling for the removal of his name from it.

if the point that you're trying to make is that we shouldnt be focusing on michael jackson...the award is literally named after him so... we're on the same page there. his name is already being brought up.

Everyone apparently doesn't know or else this award wouldn't still be named after him.

It's been a big story lately about whether or not they would remove his name from the award. They were debating about doing it. This is the first time we have any news about the award so it looks like they aren't removing it. I love Missy and I'm so glad she got the award but the fact they aren't removing MJ from the title stood out more to me.

ya but it diminishes it exclusively within this livejournal post, not across national news. op isn't obligated to make a post about missy it's a post about the hypocrisy of the award
