That picture of the climbers waiting in line to get to the peak will never not stun me. What the hell is wrong with homo sapiens, is that why we cant find intelligent life elswhere bc they all dead too from stupidity and also destroying their ecosystems?

That's one of the theories actually. If you really want to go down that rabbit hole, you can read up on explanations for the Fermi Paradox. Or you could go read a book or take a walk or something lmao.

Honestly, there needs to be more regulations on climbers. People need to climb lower peaks before they climb Everest. Pumori, etc. Himalayan climbing vs climbing in other places is just different. You can climb Denali, the highest point in NA and you're still thousands of feet below Everest.

I understand the want to climb these peaks, just the fact that people aren't willing to pay the dues of learning and climbing lower peaks astounds me. You need to walk before you can run.

I'm obsessed with mountain climbing history and I love to read about people doing high altitude climbing. I just hate the whole situation surrounding it rn.

You have to meet certain requirements to run the Boston marathon, so you'd think that climbing something like this would have more requirements.

I was thinking the same thing. There are marathons that require you to prove you've run at least one before at a certain pace, and races in general take a lot of precautions against fraud. You'd think people wanting to scale Mt. Everest would get the same level of scrutiny.

There isn’t and it’s sad. Everest is considered one of the easier Himalayan peaks to climbs above 8,000 meters. That comparison being like saying you can swim one lap in a pool vs crossing the English Channel. Himalayan mountains are so much harder than anything else. They’re technical high altitude mountains and they’ll kill indiscriminately.

it'd be one thing if it was just rich assholes dying bc they want their ego stoked but the sherpas who are paid less than 3k a year when the companies make 50k per stupid tourist are dying too

I am forever disgusted. These people are trash and got nothing but a death wish upon themselves. The disrespect to Earth. Humanity was a mistake.

Earth, sweetie I'm so sorry.

i know it's for american audiences but pleeeeeeease stop being so loud and obnoxious. The point of the video gets lost under all the yelling and gesturing and rickrolling. i know it's supposed to be comedy but jesus. so dumb.

to op's question, yes, natural selection at its finest but sucks for the locals

you know what i mean. I love america but the shows are sometimes absolutely ridiculous. Kitchen nightmares, masterchef USA, all of the talent shows. This is basically the same but marketed as a smarter thing because its politics and other serious topics and no jump cuts lmao. it's dumb but it is what it is.
