i know it's for american audiences but pleeeeeeease stop being so loud and obnoxious. The point of the video gets lost under all the yelling and gesturing and rickrolling. i know it's supposed to be comedy but jesus. so dumb.

to op's question, yes, natural selection at its finest but sucks for the locals

you know what i mean. I love america but the shows are sometimes absolutely ridiculous. Kitchen nightmares, masterchef USA, all of the talent shows. This is basically the same but marketed as a smarter thing because its politics and other serious topics and no jump cuts lmao. it's dumb but it is what it is.

I haven't watched the video yet but John Oliver has been bothering me for a while now. I used to love him, but the fact that he is contractually obligated to crack jokes every twenty seconds has slowly killed my regard for the show. That format works when the topic isn't too dark, but not when he deals with very heavy topics (which he has been doing increasingly under Trump, no surprise). JUST LET THE EMOTIONS SIT FOR A MOMENT. Don't make us feel sadness and horror only to crack an ill-fitting joke a moment later. It feels disrespectful and infantilizing.
