I think some people who lie like this don't think they are lying at all - they just have a story in their head based on some small truth, and it becomes the actual truth in their head.

IA. I was listening to this podcast about suggestive memory and it was both creepy and fascinating how little it takes to convince someone of something that didn't happen to them.

Also my mother is the WORST at this I have literally heard her suggest herself into different memories when I know that she wasn't in them and it's like "WTF mom".

was the podcast "to live and die in la"?

haha my best friend does this. she claims she has the best memory and can remember things from when she was like 9 months old in vivid detail. i'm like noooopeee that is not how memory works, you've heard the stories from your family and have assimilated them. she does not believe me.

I wish it had been more wrapped up in a neat little package with Big Chris going to jail and justice for Adea. I guess that's not realistic, but I felt terrible for her friends and family who must believe that a man who contributed to her death is just walking around free.

Also the more it the more I was reminded of why I don't watch too much true crime. It felt so exploitative especially when they found out that Chris jr had died and you could practically hear Neil Strauss salivating because he had the news early and he got to run around calling all these people who were having the shittiest day of their life and probably weren't in the right frame of mind to talk to him and afterwards he was like "Omg that was so hard for meI feel really bad for Chris's fiance who thought he was innocent and gave up all of his digital data that ended up suggesting he did kill Adea. IDK all these people are sick. There was no reason for her to die, like just be an adult and dump her already, especially since his fiance

IA. I know one girl who’s a chronic liar, and she’s been telling the same lies for so long that I think she’s genuinely started to believe them herself. It’s wild.

I know two such people. And they lie without even having to..without being asked anything. But it becomes their reality
