That's one of the things that scares me about getting an IUD

What, bb? Not having a period?

I don’t really notice physical changes much, maybe cramps. But god, I feel her on the emotional level. I feel like my bpd just...can’t be contained when I’m leading up to my period. It’s like I’m a different person. My mom said she was the same until she had a hysterectomy but I want kids so that’s not an option for me. Maybe Dakota will figure out a solution and tell us all.

I have bpd as well as schizoeffective and anxiety and it's the same for me too! I'm such a monster when pmsing. I don't want a hysterectomy though because I rather not deal with early menopause and the need to take estrogen at 25

I have BPD and schizoaffective too, I'm happy not to feel alone here. When I'm PMSing and on my period, I'm having all sorts of mood swings, it's fucking terrible.

Yeah, I’m schizoaffective and have bpd as well, and it’s like I turn into an entirely different (and generally unpleasant) person when I have pms. I seriously consider getting a hysterectomy partly because of it.

Same, Dakota, same. My Mirena saved my fucking life for like 3 years. Now I have a freakishly long period again, just not as heavy as before, and all my awful pmdd symptoms are back. I need to get my Mirena replaced but my insurance doesn’t cover IUDs, so I’m TRYING to save up to have it replaced this summer, but shit keeps happening.

FYI, you can also use NuvaRing to manage period symptoms too!

But if you're in the US and your insurance plan starts after 1/1/2014, an IUD and other birth control methods has to be covered. Thanks, Obama!

The only exceptions are insurance plans that are through a student, federal, or religious organization. So double check your benefits, boo!

I’m on Medicare, which isn’t required to cover birth control 😩 while it’s MOSTLY for seniors, there is a large chunk of people on disability who receive it. I thought Obamacare had me covered when I got my first one, then my insurance (Medicare but through private insurance) informed me I was screwed, and I had to pay $1,600 for an IUD that was placed improperly (after they screwed up the original one, took it out, and put another one in) and came out within 6 months.

I ended up getting another one from Planned Parenthood for $400, and that’s the amount I’m trying to save up now. Hopefully their sliding scale fees haven’t changed much.

(I'm a PP worker in CA, and I'm the person that works with insurance all the time)

that shit should be against the law. fuck your employer.

i had really painful periods too. blacking out, throwing up. i was finally granted a hysterectomy when my sister was diagnosed with uterine cancer, and they found/cleaned out endometriosis tissue at the time of my surgery.

i had to pay a 2k deductible AND THEN after it was finished, received another bill for an additional 4k that my insurance didn't cover.
