That movie is seriously one massive retcon. JKR has become a joke at this point.

I just don't understand why would she do that? I mean, yes, throw the occasional easter egg here and there but stop retconning every damn thing. :(

I feel like it's an inevitable problem with writers. In many, many cases they lose sight of what people actually loved and they only complicate their work further.

it happened quicker with her than a lot of fans are willing to admit, imo. her writing really changed after goblet of fire. maybe it was the stress of fame or having a baby around that time but the last 3 books and every clusterfuck of an article on pottermore might as well have been written by someone else. i re-read the series back to back a few years ago and the difference is super stark to me within the first chapter of order of the phoenix. its so weird!

I never actually finished the books as a kid because I couldn't get past the first 100 pages of The Order of the Phoenix. It felt completely off.

I think once the movies started, she kind of ended up going with Kloves vision for Ron as well, which sucks.
