Yeah, I'll never understand it. My 82 year old friend recently died of pancreatic cancer the year after he got hit by a car while on his bike (and the driver sped away from the scene), the year after his son died in a motorcycle accident. The universe is random, cruel, and meaningless.

Life is truly unfair. I’m sure all of us could sit down and make a list of at least ten amazing people we knew who died too young, yet this waste of carbon is still allowed to exist freely.

if this is what life is, maybe they are better off not having to go through it. we're so used to this "life is such a gift" concept, but particularly recently i've been thinking....is it? is it really?

It is I think, but no one can predict the future. People who die young may have lost a lot of future happiness OR have been spared a lot of pain. There's no way of knowing. It's comforting to see it in a neutral way, at least for me.
