September 28, 2018 (In)famous escapee of the #MeToo era Roman Polanski has announced he is working on a historical thriller called "J'Accuse". The film will follow the Dreyfus Affair, the 1894 scandal where the French government wrongly convicted the French Jewish Captain Alfred Dreyfus over allegations of espionage. Polanski has called the subject of his film "absolutely relevant" in reflecting "the age-old spectacle of the witch hunt on a minority group, security paranoia, secret military tribunals, out-of-control intelligence agencies, governmental cover-ups, and a rabid press". Polanski previously fled the United States in the 1970s to avoid a jail sentence for raping a 13 year-old girl and called the the #MeToo movement fear-based and "the height of hypocrisy".
