Not OC but they can be legit if they are run by the state or subject to state survey. Depending on the age group they can be in residential programs up to a certain age then they can age out and have to move onto the next program. It's a very difficult system to navigate through but the programs can be very helpful if run properly.

However, I do believe there can also be programs likes this run privately with less state supervision that are run terribly and really make some of their residences worse.

i mean, there's no way of knowing without knowing the name of the facility or what kind of program/treatment he's participating in. could be a behavioral health care facility. some programs can last anywhere from a couple weeks to a year (or could be more, depending on the severity of the presenting issue). her emphasis on "life and social skills" makes me automatically think of autism spectrum, but this is all just me and others speculating on a few sentences.

Like others have said, it's hard to tell because we don't know which one he's at, but my old job used to work with a program like this so they could get job experience. They had their own worker that would come in with them to help them write down their schedule, and hang out during their shift, though they didn't usually interfere because they wanted them to learn life skills. The workers all really cared a lot about their patient? and it was honestly a pleasure to work with them. My best salad bar person was one of those disabled adults, she paid SO MUCH attention to detail. It looked like a damn photograph, always. As I was quitting, the state was cutting funding and they pulled all of them out from our schedules because they couldn't afford transportation for them :/

if he has something relating to anxiety, OCD, depression, it could be more for therapeutic reasons.

He's the one who hasn't talked to his dad in years. I think the divorce and all the life changes that came with it were very hard on him and it's most likely for something like that.
