Summary: Massu and Shige are bestfriends as are Yuya and YamaPi. Massu and Yuya were former lovers/boyfriends but Massu, thinking himself as being in love with his bestfriend, broke up with Yuya and professed his undying love to Shige. YamaPi has the hots for Shige and plans to snag him. What will happen to them when fate takes its toll?
A/N: here's the 2nd part of the prologue. I didn't want to leave you guys hanging too much so here goes.
(Prologue 1)
Prologue 2:
Yuya stretched his arms over his head, and yawned. He looked at Yamapi who has just finished his phone conversation and he was chuckling. He frowned and asked "Who was that?"
"Hmm, a friend from school, he and his boyfriend are coming to visit." Yamapi replied, his upper lip twitching in amusement.
Yuya groaned and propped on his elbows. "What do you mean 'he and his boyfriend' are coming to visit?"
"Before the break, I invited him to visit and he's taken me up on my offer. He just called to make sure it was still good." Yamapi explained.
"And what did you tell him?" Yuya asked.
"Well, since he's coming to visit, I, of course, obviously told him that the invitation was still open. I’d be a fool to let it pass. He's taking a bus here on Friday. Don't get all bitchy because your boyfriend dumped you before summer. Shige's a great guy, so you need to be nice to him while he's here. He already went through enough, having Ryo as a roommate at the dorm all year long."
Yuya gasped and straightened up from his position. "His name is Shige? Yamapi, didn’t I tell you that guys with that name are like a curse to me? That they’re the bane of my existence? That they make my life a living hell?"
Yamapi shrugged his shoulders and shuffled through his closet. "Yuya, you’re being melodramatic again."
"They are!" Yuya said repeatedly, almost yelling.
Ignoring his friend’s outburst, Yamapi asked, "Hmm, what do you think I should wear?"
"What are you talking about?" Yuya asked, dumbfounded.
"For when Shige gets here…what do you think I should wear?" Yamapi explained.
Yuya groaned, rolled over, and buried his face in the pillow. "No, please . . . not you, too, I can’t take that."
"Eh? What are you talking about?"
"Don't you go and fall for a Shige and leave me, too." Yuya sniffed.
Yamapi snorted. "What? The boy Massu left you for was named Shige too?"
"Yes, I told you that. Don’t tell me you forgot?" Yuya yelled in response, the pillow muffling his voice.
"I didn’t but it’s kinda annoying seeing you acting like that. Well, newsflash Yuya. I know this may come as a shock to you, but not all boys named Shige are evil, boyfriend-stealers."
"This Shige is going to steal you now, I’m sure of it."
"I'm not even your real boyfriend, Yuya. I'm your best friend, and we may have made out a few times, but let’s face it, you don’t really like me that way. I'm a makeshift replacement for the illustrious Massu. That's about it." Yamapi countered.
"How can you be my boyfriend when we don’t even date? You should take me on dates." Yuya said.
Yamapi sighed. "While I have no problem being your rebound, I'm not going to put aside my chances at a relationship for your broken heart. I love you, Yuya, but I don't love you that way. We’re bestfriends with benefits, that’s all there is to it."
"Really? Well, newsflash bestfriend with benefit, your chance at a relationship is bringing a boyfriend. I don't think he's interested." Yuya scoffed.
Yamapi smirked. "For your information, he was single when school let out. It's a new relationship. I'm not threatened. If you just had a more positive attitude, maybe you'd snag another guy. Look at you, brooding here and there, whining like a drama queen. You’re hot, almost beautiful even, you can get any guy at a snap of a finger, but what do you do? Whine about someone who has loved his bestfriend for years. Get real. Snap out of it, go out, have fun. Pretty soon, you’ll forget about this guy who dumped you like a hot potato." YamaPi said
"I don't want another guy, and you're one to talk. You're almost more miserable than I am." Yuya scoffed at his friend.
"I was talking about a positive attitude in snagging a guy, not in life." Yamapi retorted.
"I'd have a more positive attitude if I looked like you. Maybe then, Massu would not have broken up with me and gone to confess his undying love to his bestfriend." Yuya complained.
Yamapi turned and glanced in the mirror. "Hey, you know it isn't easy being me."
"You're a dick."
"Oh, Yuya, I wouldn't be seen with you, much less kiss you if you were ugly. Like I said, you’re hot."
"I never said I thought I was ugly. I’ll have you know, I’m tagged as the “pretty one at the university." Yuya countered.
"I know you’re a pretty one, but you’re still not me hehe.." Yamapi replied, his upper lip twitching in amusement
"Fine, be that way. Evil, boyfriend-stealer Shige can have you. I don't need you."
"Yuya, don’t you think you’re overreacting a little here? I’m still here, I’m still your bestfriend, if nothing else."
"Pi . . ."
"I know, I know. I'm your Massu replacement. What was so great about him, anyway? I know you said he was hot, but . . ." Yamapi trailed
"He wasn't just hot. I loved him. I was . . . still am . . head over heels in love with him." Yuya buried his face into the pillow again, groaned, and looked back to Yamapi. "I love him, simple as that. What am I supposed to do? God, I wish I didn’t go to that stupid university. I was fine before all of this happened. Now I'm in love but he doesn't want anything to do with me." Yuya explained, eyes misting.
"Hey, stop being the drama queen here. You fell for his charms, you went steady and had great sex. But he broke up with you. End of story. Mourn the loss and move on."
"I am mourning. How can you be so heartless?" Yuya complained.
"You've been mourning since summer. You do know there's more than one guy out there, don't you?"
"Yeah, all named Shige, each one of them tagged as evil boyfriend-stealers."
Yamapi rolled his eyes at his friend’s reaction. "Seriously, Yuya, don’t be such a baby. Massu breaking up with you isn't the end of the world. Pull yourself together and move on. You weren't even together for a long time. Did you ever think that maybe you two weren’t meant to be?"
"We were until that Shige guy interfered in his life."
"I hate to break it to you but you, my friend, are the one who interfered in their lives. Remember you said Shige and Massu were best friends since they were kids?" Yamapi said.
"Well, yeah they are, but . . ." Yuya stammered.
"And that he started missing Shige, and that's when you found out that Massu has been in love with his bestfriend all along."
"He said he loved me, too, you know."
"But, he still had feelings for his bestfriend. Feelings he chose to keep to himself because he didn’t want to risk losing his friend. I'm not saying he didn't have any feelings for you, but . . . this thing he had for his bestfriend has been there long before you two met. Look, just do me a favour over the next week and acknowledge that my friend Shige is not the same Massu-stealing Shige that has destroyed your life. Can you do that much for me?"
Yuya grunted. "Sure, I guess I can."
"Good, now what should I wear?"

After being gone for so long, I’m not sure how this will be welcomed. And some of you may notice that this is way different than my usual writing. A good friend once told me that I use strong words and following her advice, I’m experimenting on a different kind of fic, minimizing the use of strong words *_____*. It’s still alternate universe, though. I’m sorry to disappoint another friend who has been waiting for the NEWS fic (prisoner of love) which I’ve shown her and two other good friends last year. I have yet to get back into that. I’ll definitely have that one out but this one will go first.
As mentioned, this is experimental. I’m a stranger to writing ShigePi so bear with me. I kinda promised my friend Aida a ShigePi fic and this may not be the one she expected to come out but I hope she likes this. Also, I hope my friends won’t mind that I’m using them as characters in this fic w/out asking them first. Alba dear, please say you don’t mind, pretty please? I know you love Shige so I added you as one of his bestfriends heheh.
One other thing, the NEWS characters will be a bit OOC but that’s only cause the story calls for it :XD
