Sailor Moon 2013 Feels

Jan 23, 2013 01:20

Many of you may have known that the Pretty Guardian Soldier : Sailor Moon is returning this Summer 2013! I am extremely excited about the remake of the series hopefully relating to the story arcs of the original manga.
These are my little hopes of what the remake will bring.

[Note:  I tried to remain this long rant semi-spoiler free, but I assume you previously watched or read the original manga. If you're completely new to the fandom, I recommend reading the manga first, since the new series are closer to the original manga and a damn good story. They are now re-published so buy them in your local book store :) If you have time to watch all 200 episodes too, I hope you enjoy watching every single one of them]

1. Don't change the art styl
I hope they don't adapt the art style of the more today's anime, where it gets all cutesy and stuff. I hope they keep or at least make an effort to retain Naoko Takeuchi's original art style. Her artwork is sexy, beautiful and absolutely breathtaking. [and not in a provocative sexy way at all]. By the way, Sailor Moon is the only anime I'll keep revisiting because of the beautiful artwork (and the story line of course

2. Loose the Filler episodes, Keep the Story Arc Plots
Yes, I understand from the original anime production, Takeuchi-san was still on the process of writing and publishing the original copies of Sailor Moon, but now in 2013, THE MANGA IS ALREADY COMPLETE. From the original anime, each episode was there was some side story with tiny, tiny little bits of information that leads to the last few episodes where the DRAMATIC ENDING COMES!! Yeah, that's how usually animes tell their tale. Basically they are completely a waste of time and really annoying. The manga of Sailor Moon has a complete story where each arc has a relationship right to one another and will remind you back to the first series . There is a lot material to work with so make the best of it. Generally keep it same to the manga and I'll be happy <3

3. Insert some of the Original Music
To be honest, I really didn't like the latest theme version by Momoiro Clover Z. I know they might be the latest pop group, but for Sailor Moon, I thought it was a little childish. Sailor Moon has some dark aspects [especially in the manga], and as the arcs progress, you see the growth in Usagi-chan from a crybaby to a confident mature person to eventually being queen.  The original soundtrack was emotional and beautiful while slightly nostalgic feeling, (ex. Star locket, Michiru's violin, Moonlight Densetsu, etc.). Even as BGM or something. Just as Usagi remembers her tragic past, the fans remember her. The lyrics for "Otome Sensou" do have some nice moments that you could relate to the characters of the Sailor Moon, so I hope the producers edit it on those moments.

4. Give Mamoru more credit

I'm really hoping they actually give life to Mamoru instead of throwing a stupid rose and saying the most randomest things. When I first read the manga, I actually was surprised he wasn't throwing ANY ROSES AT ALL! Instead, Mamoru built a relationship with Usagi even before they discovered their identities and past. THAT'S TRUE LOVE! Even though he's been possessed and manipulated like god knows how many times, they always still have a connection of love. AND HE GETS A FREAKING ATTACK!! Mamoru is a really caring and brave person too. Plus the Shintennou are his guardians and actually guide him when he was troubled. Hopefully the remake includes the Shitennou's status too.
I recently read somewhere that apparently, the animators didn't like our dear Mamo-chan at all and just make him suffer. No wonder majority of the fans hated him and rooted for Seiya. I personally hated Mamoru in the anime because we rarely see any commitment with Usagi-chan . Hmm i don't know; Kidnapped, Possessed (beryl), Memories forgotten, break up, poisoned by Black Moon rose thingy, possessed again (nehelenia), "goes to" America. Just to name a few :P

[sappy stuff ]
Yep, that's pretty much the main things I will be looking forward to [hopefully] the remake of the new anime. There are other little things I'd like them to change as well, but as long as they stay true to the manga, I will be extremely happy <3 Make us proud producers and animators!
I truly love reading and watching the series. I will always revisit her and I'm glad the newer generation gets to see what we once and still love. A cartoon anime worth watching for! I'm so glad they're releasing it world wide simultaneously so we get to watch it subbed (hopefully Funimation/fansubs) and see it in our own language. I just hope they wont censor a lot of things cause it's really stupid and meant for the more mature audience.

Sailor Moon is my idol in the animation world ever since I was a little girl. I remember waking up early to watch it and impersonating her moves. I grew up with the dubbed English version, but as soon as I learned about anime, first thing I watch is Sailor Moon, all 200 episodes cause I love Usagi that much. Even hearing any of the Japanese Openings makes me nostalgic as if I heard it for my entire life. Of course the English theme "She is the One named Sailor Moon" still fills my heart just as well <3

Usagi is my inspiration to make me become a woman I want to become. I'm not the most social person like Usagi, I'm the one who usually feels alone and lost, like any of the other senshi, but she helps me pull together and reminds me to have faith and believe.

Thank you Naoko Takeuchi for creating Sailor Moon <3
