On the Third Day of Christmas...

Christmas is usually filled with stress...getting the gifts in time, getting them out on time, travelling, visiting with family and putting up with the noise, trying to catch up with old friends. Normally Christmas leaves me drained and very very tired. Okay, so I'm still very tired but this time it is for good reasons, namely I ate too much and I'm warm and comfy and my eye lids are just too heavy to keep open.

I took several days off work and Hugh and I went to Cincinnati to spend Christmas with old friends and with family. Christmas Eve was the Noel family reunion (no kidding...that is the family name), so we were there with Hugh's Aunt Annie, his sister Marilyn, his sister Mary and her husband and daughter, daughter's husband, and son, then most of his Aunt Edith's family. We had lots of food and black-walnut nutbread (a hill specialty, a very strong taste but wonderful if you like it), fruitcake (I like fruitcake, so sue me), and other goodies.

Christmas day we spent the first part with my friend Julie and her family. We hadn't seen each other in a year and a half, and when we came to the door we weren't sure she was going to be able to hold it together. She almost cracked a rib when she hugged me. After we spent several hours there we spent several hours with Matt and Bill and a few other friends at their place.

Yesterday we caught up with some old friends of Hugh's that had several friends in common with me...scary. This whole scene is more like two degrees of separation rather than six. We also saw the Meryl Streep movie "Doubt". Go see it. I'm serious.

Today we're supposed to catch up on more friends...maybe I can also get a nap somewhere.
