Moved into my very OWN apartment for the first time in my life!
Jeremy (ex husband) and I broke up late November but I couldn't get a new lease until January 1st. I just switched apartments here in Buckeye Village to a one bedroom, and I instantly fell in love with it. (
Moving day ADIML)
Got my RA job here in BV!
which means my apartment & utilities are free, and i get a smaaaaall stipend! I do event programming, 2 hours of office duties a week and occasionally have the on call phone for when cars need towed or someone locks themselves out of their apartment.
Last year's staff (Jamie, my great boss is next to me in the middle) at the office before we went to the symphony with all the other OSU RAs!
Went to the Neurologist a bunch in the beginning of the year
I had all the symptoms of certain forms of non-convulstive seizures and was trying to get tested and such. My neurologist said they just sounded like ADD symptoms and my psychiatrist said they didn't sound like ADD symptoms at all. However in Oct/Nov when i finally got on proper ADD meds the symptoms when away (when i take them, they're the same when I don't) so I guess he was right? Though my new psychiatrist is still pretty confused by many of my symptoms and reactions to meds (as in if i eat while on the medicine it stops working which no one can figure out).
Went on a field trip with the City & Regional Planning Student Association (CRPSA) to Cinci
Field trips are fun and i finally started making friends with people in my program!
More pictures here. Spring Quarter ADIML!
Here! (this is my laptop background. :D, it's from my school, this is the building i live in, basically, but this cool little city thing is not usually there)
Boys
In April Jeremy & I stopped messing around and stuff and officially broke off all of that silliness we had still been hanging on to.
Josh put the moves on me and we were hanging out and stuff.
I went on quite a few OkCupid dates throughout the first few months of the year.
I realized I liked Thomas but wasn't sexually attracted to him, but I even journaled that I've never been sexually attracted to any guy I've been with before we kissed, some weird hormonal thing or something, so I hoped he kissed me and that happened.)
CRPSA went to Cleveland
Made friends even more, took some pretty good pictures, and the one below is now on the
Knowlton School of Architecture CRP program & admissions page! :D That's my yellow coat, which i miss a lot (got destroyed by someone else's wine).
My pictures here. Thomas
We went to Heatwave (monthly dance party that is popular up here and interestingly was started by his friend from New Orleans who happens to be up here getting her PhD at OSU). We finally hooked up and it was great, he had liked me for about 7 months at that point and I was finally to the point where I wasn't a horrifically insecure ball of baggage so it was good... and then he got transferred back to Louisiana 6 days later. So that sucked.
Killian busted his head
What is the first thing a two year old does a week after you lose health insurance? Fall and bust their head and require 9 stiches right above his eye, of course! Only in the past month has the scar faded from bright red.
mistressemi amp; her then-fiance, now-husband Ash came to visit!!
INDIA!!!!!!!!
I won the Architectural Research Travel Award from Knowlton and spent two weeks in India, my long-time love. Was SO great to finally go. And Thomas randomly came with!
My tag of pictures is here, but I realize I'm only about halfway through those. Woops! I should probably catch up there. ;)
London!!
I had a 3 day layover on my way back. After the india pics these will get up too. Fell in love with the city!
Rianne
I met my oldest internet friend! When we were 13/14 or so we met on a Rupert Grint fan forum and became pen pals, along with some people from a few other countries. We lost touch with the rest of them but we are still friends! :D She's from Ireland but she moved to England for university & is now a nurse there. She rode the train up to London to meet me! :)
New Orleans/Louisiana
When Thomas finally got back from his travels (he stayed in England/Europe when I came home), we missed each other and he flew me down and we drove around the whole state. This is my new favorite city in the US and I can't wait to post pics from trip I & II. :D
Drinkin' absinthe in the French Quarter.
Summer with Killian
Went to lots of festivals and other summery things. <3
Hixson family reunion
Like every year! Down in Dayton. This is us and my mom & brother.
RA training/Welcome Week
A week of RA training for my job and then a week of spirit week/welcome week type activities. I love stuff like that.
Rest of pics here. This was just PART of the freshman class!! OSU is big. (and I think the biggest study body on a main campus in the country -56,000 this year, i think.)
Became president of OSU Veg club
... and then slacked off insanely because we weren't properly registered yet and my semester was CRAZY busy.
At Hal & Als all-vegan bar. Thats the back of my head.
Fall Semester
Ohio universities all switched from the quarter system to the semester system, which was basically a clusterfuck, but ah well. I took Place Making, Data Analysis & the city, Facilities Master Plan Studio: The OSU College of Engineering & Architectural math. And made dean's list though it was my hardest quarter ever!
In studio (with my super hot teacherrrrrrrrrrrr. ;D)
Killian started Preschool!
The preschool class is 3yr-5yrs but at 2 and a half Killian was bumped up because he was so far ahead of his similarly aged daycare playmates. We were sad to say goodbye to his daycare teachers who had him the whole time he was there, but we love his new ones and the classroom is twice as big and perfect for his level of play and such.
Walking to preschool on the first day!
ADIML Fall
Here! Jordan
One of my classmates, we hang out at least once a week, have a few beers, study together, he would drive me home every night by the end of the quarter, we would flirt, but the time after what was basically a Christmas date he told me he was never interested -like that- which i call partial bullshit on, but if he doesn't want to full on date, whatever... Sad though, quite liked him! And he's cute!
Medicine
After not having insurance most of the year, I was forced by OSU to buy theirs (you must have insurance or you can't register for classes, wtf, extra thousand bucks a semester- though in my case it's worth it). I started going to the harding mental health hospital and after some work (they normally don't deal with ADD at all and send them elsewhere, but they took pity on me) I got put on Concerta (long acting Ritalin) and Celexa (depression/anxiety) and it basically turned my life around. I only made deans list this quarter instead of straight up flunking out because of that!
Birthday
Turned 25. Emi & Ash came down for the weekend & we went to Ren Fest with my English language partner & her friend, both from China. Ren Fest kind of blew their minds!
YEP, I gotta cloak!
Halloween
Just hung out at Buckeye Village's party with my pumpkin & coworkers!
^This year's staff!
Killian turned 3!
On november 17! We had a birthday party here at BV. Killian was the onlly American kid there. :) I love living here!
India presentation
I wore my nice outfit I got in Mumbai with my couchsurfing host who helped me pick it out and I presented on my research to the school! :)
Thanksgiving
Went down to Dayton and let Killian play with all his (second) cousins!
Studio Showdown
New this year, all the senior CRP studios have an end of the semester showdown, where we turn in all our work to the judges, then present a Pecha Kucha (20 slides, 20 seconds each) on everything we did in the class, then play two game-show trivia games, all for points, and the winner wins the semester, basically. Our studio was run by the associate dean of the college of engineering who is type A and everyone knew we did the most work and stuff but I made the Pecha Kucha by myself and presented it with another person from my class, and then did the jeopardy from my class... and we won! :D
^Pecha Kucha and the school-wide awards ceremony
New Orleans/Louisiana II
Thomas brought me down again! I spent the week working on PhD application stuff in BFE Louisiana in a really lovely B&B, and on the weekends we were in New Orleans and Shreveport (5 hours away, lol). It was fun. In New Orleans we went to a couchsurfing ugly sweater potluck which was fun!
(can't wait to post the rest of my pictures!)
Christmas
Killian was in Florida to visit his great-grandparents, but on Christmas eve one of my (cute, see smiling man in center of photo!) classmates invited me to his family's christmas party. I was the only one there not from his high school but it was fun anyway, I certainly appreciated the invite! And then on Christmas Jordan and I went out for drinks, walked back to his house and hung out for a long time. He showed me all his old art, I had had no idea that he was an artist!
GRE
I got a 165 out of 170 on verbal (95th percentile)........ and 146/170 on Quantitative (math)... 27th percentile. I've learned SO MUCH math since my practice test, I don't understand how my score went DOWN! Except that I didn't have enough time to get the paperwork in for extended time through disability services so I didn't finish most of the questions or get to do them thoroughly enough. :(
New Years Eve
Just spent it with my kid and being on call! I didn't even watch the TV this time, but I was laying in bed when I heard the fireworks and knew it had become 2013.
WHEW. I think that's all the main things! :D
