I thought it was great, slightly predictable setlist aside. Really enjoyed hearing Mizerable, Claymore was an interesting choice as well. GHOST I could listen to for 10 hrs straight. Hope to go again next year and hear some material from his discography that's becoming very underused. I guess my best-of popular song setlist fatigue is starting to show. XD

That selfie... This man needs to be stopped.

I was happy with the setlist, although I'd rather have heard completely new songs and not stuff he did last year like LOVE LETTER (despite how much I love the song)

All my money for an orchestral Birdcage... (or any Birdcage for that matter)

I went to the evening concert, too and wrote a super long review in my journal here, so I've said just about everything I want to say.
Also, I was trying to determine the songs used for the MOON SAGA medley and think I got them all...

Summarizing it... amazing? spectacular? special? I don't think I can summarize my words even further here than I did on Tumblr earlier... or rather, I think my ability to weave words has left me at the moment.

The orchestrated pieces were wonderful and made me nostalgic for playing on stage. To quote my Tumblr post:
"Violins as smooth as butter, drums explosive as firecrackers, trombones grand when carrying melody…"
and for GACKT:
"Notes that soared and broke into a sob, notes that faded away into a sigh, notes that growled, notes that wrapped around you with resonance…"
I particularly loved Akatsukizukuyo. It's at the top of my favorite-songs list, so this was nice to hear.

His voice is so rich live. He is bare, but it certainly doesn't sound like a detriment. His voice just fills the hall ( ... )

Oh no, the "bare" comment is not a negative where GACKT is concerned. He's at his best when he's bare. He doesn't even have his in ear monitors for the show, and he uses them for everything, so I imagine this is out of his comfort zone, actually. That's good though! When it's just him and an orchestra/acoustic band/piano, his voice truly shines and just wraps around you.

Sorry, sorry, I think my comment was misunderstood! I agreed with you 100% -- definitely not a negative. I meant it as "it certainly doesn't sound like a detriment [like it might be for others if they went bare]." His voice just fills the hall even without those aids.

And "yes!" to the wrapping around description. Especially when he has those really deep notes and you feel it reverberate!

Oh yeah, many artists would be completely outclassed and exposed by a show like this. I don't think the Tokyo Philharmonic do many collaboration concerts like this with mainstream 'pop' artists, so that's a comment on his singing and songwriting abilities right there.

I could wax poetic about his voice all day, hahahaha.

One day...one day I will see him live!

And...is he working out in swim trunks? Or am I just spending way too much time staring at them? XD
