Midnight Sun? Bitch
I don't know anything about Stephanie Meyer, or Twilight. Actually that is not true. They are romantic vampire novels that are either loved or reviled. The guys over at CHUD.com hate them so much they title every post about them "F*ck this face". My friend Yoshimi loves them, and feels they are an extension of Buffy and other modern day vampire tales.
All I know is this, one of my favorite authors (Karl Edward Wagner) named a work Midnight Sun. Then Ramsey Campbell wrote a horror novel, named it Midnight Sun, and thanked Karl for loaning him the title (they were friends). Now Stephanie is naming a book Midnight Sun. She has incurred my wrath. She is woefully ignorant, or an outright thief. Did Karl and Ramsey invent the term? No. Did they bring it into the word of fantasy and horror? As far as I know. Perhaps if they are the thieves, I will withhold my vengeance. but since I am mad, read this hateful annotated interview.
