Against Me!- New Wave

6.5 out of 10

Has its high and its low points.
Upon the first listen through I could do nothing but have my jaw dropped and have tears swell in my eyes.
It was nothing like what i was used to. But nothing that i was conditioned to hate.
I felt torn and confused.

Then I came to the conclusion that I have grown.
And so has the Band and I as a fan should except what they want to do with their music and just enjoy every album for what it is.
Moving On...

The album is Solid for the most part, A few key tracks include.
-New Wave
-Up The Cuts
-Thrash Unreal
-Piss and Vinegar
-The Ocean

Now there is one track I am not too sure of "Borne On the FM Waves of The Heart"
This Track includes a duet with Tegan from the infamous pop duo Tegan and Sarah
While it is a bright and surprising change for the band. I don't know how to feel about it exactly. It has solid lyrics and is really one of the only songs i am indifferent about on the album.

Now for the bad.

-Stop!
-Animal

Stop! is the mostly ungodly lame song that has graced my ears in a long time. Catchy vocals and a fun guitar riff don't help for the awful lyrics. Tom obviously did not try very hard with this song. a sample of the lyrics "Stop! take some time to think figure out whats important to you, Stop! take some time to think. Got to make a serious decision"

It will become the anthem of 8th graders across the nation trying to do their math homework.

Animal is the exact opposite of Stop! Great lyrics but the overproduction of Butch Vig hurts the song. Voice Distortion was not the way to go.

Overall I will listen to the album. and it will either grow on me.
Or It wont have a place in my CD Player at all.

Love You Guys
-Chris
