Oh man. So, I heard Gnarls Barkley's cover of "Gone Daddy Gone" the other day, and then I bought it. I am a big fan of the Violent Femmes' lo-fi sound, but I have to say, GB has massively improved this song by adding synth pop and handclaps. It seems so simple, and yet it rules so much. And all I had heard of the GB before this was "Crazy," which I fervently disliked. I could not understand the appeal--it was like PM Dawn for the aughts. But what do I know? I am hopelessly uncool, so I don't worry about such things.
