Don't know why everyone else keeps insisting on that Spanish-sounding KAH-SAH-BLAH-NKAHS, but I almost started feeling intimidated for the past few months because I say it in the American dragged-out way. I thought some people, since they're in the majority, would think I'm pronouncing it WRONG. lol

In all seriousness, I just love pronouncing everything I can in the American way. I love American English. :D
And I keep wanting to ask you - awkward! - would you mind if I used that icon once you don't use it anymore or something? (Since I didn't see you posted it anywhere up for grabs and it's my fav one of all the icons made on LJ these days out of that gorgeous pic. Including the one I tried making myself and failed miserably.) Would credit, I always do. And feel free to fuck me off and keep it jealously just for yourself. *is weird. walks away.*
I knew I worded that badly the moment I sent it. ;) What I meant to say is, why Americans keep insisting on that Spanish-sounding version these days when even Julian himself drags it out American way? I know it's the correct way of saying it in Spanish, but they don't do it with all the non-English names. Most get adjusted to American accent. But it's like FANCY to call Julian by the originally pronounced last name. It's not that I mind, I just started feeling like a black sheep lately. LOL I'm so stuck on dragging Casablancas out because he is JOO-lian after all, not HOO-lian. See my logic now? lol
No, I get what you mean. Whenever I say my mom's maiden name, I pronounce it the Americanized way because it's easier for American English speakers. The hard As is very much apart of American English and that's how Julian grew up. It makes sense that he pronounces his own last name that way.
Also, some Americans like saying things in a fancy way because it makes them feel "cultured."
You're right. It's just that for all these past months wherever I heard his name being said it was pronounced in that Spanish-sounding way, which I understand for the Brits, but all the Americans did, too. So I started feeling like I'm one of the remaining few not sounding 'fancy'. lol Jules not included, since he's got the authority on pronouncing his name whichever way he wants.
