The third day of my fast is beginning. I know I didn’t mention my intentions to fast on here before; I’ve been pretty slack about writing lately. But I’d been reading a lot about fasting, and I thought, “Hmmm, I’ve never tried that. Let’s give it a shot!” which is basically how I have decided to do everything I’ve ever done in my whole life.

Those of you who are on campus today, do yourselves a favor. Go get some soup at the Student Center. Today they’ve got my favorite. It’s called “Broccoli Cordon Bleu” and it’s excellent. And they almost never have it; it isn’t one of the ones in heavy rotation like chili or chicken & rice. So grab some while you can!

So the new semester starts today, it’s Opening Day, and that never makes me happy.  And it’s cold again here, after a week or so of unseasonably warm weather, plus which one of my gloves has disappeared, and I'm irritated.  I walk into the cafeteria all bundled up and desperately in need of hot soup. Went to John Marshall's birthday dinner last night. It's part of Constitution Week here at Marshall U., and ordinarily this particular event would have been beyond my limited means, but the ticket was free and so what the hell, right?

Woo hoo! I'm home and I'm warming up leftover spaghetti in mushroom sauce and drinking chocolate milk, and all of a sudden life is really really good. I am very pleased.
