Reed tried to tell us a joke last night.
I don't remember the context, but he and I and Sarah had already been laughing like drunken fools (which, you know...). And he said, “I'm gonna tell you guys a joke.”
“Okay,” I said.
“This isn't a very nice joke.”
“That's okay, baby. Tell it.”
“Probably both of you will be mad at me for this joke.”
“We won't be mad. Just tell the joke.”
“I mean, it isn't PC at all, you know?”
“Jesus, just tell the joke, would ya?” By now I was wetting myself with anticipation.
“Okay. What do you call a woman?”
And I just broke into hysterical laughter. I couldn't stop. It was the funniest thing I'd ever heard. Sarah and I just kinda rolled around on the deck for half an hour or so. It was brilliant.
I still don't know the punchline. I don't think the joke needs one.
