The SetUp

Woke up early and headed out to Crystal Pool for the first time ever, despite living right next to the place for nearly 18 years now. It's an intimidating pool, very long and with a feeling of everyone being on display. Maybe it's because the exercise equipment is all up on balconies over looking the pool, but it just feels like everyone is watching everyone. Plus, one length of the pool is like 2 of Juan de Fuca's lengths, and nearly killed me.

Still, it was good to go and I likely will again. They have a super hot, if small, steam room and a hot tub, as well.

In the afternoon, I faced off against Joel in a Field of Glory battle. I took the forces of Richard the Lionheart up against Saladin's Ayyubid horse army.

The result was pretty much a win for me by default, as Joel opted to run his forces off the table rather than fight me. I managed the win the headspace, I think, and he decided he had no chance.

Our next fight will likely be set in a slightly earlier period, so he can deploy more foot and I can't deploy mixed spear & crossbow formations.

In the evening, I went out for dinner with Chantel to Nautical Nellies. We had a good time, enjoying steak and seafood. Finished up with a great blue-berry & white chocolate strudel. They make some seriously good food at Nautical Nellies, I have to say.

And then I came home. Lots of happy birthday wishes on the facebook, and a few people texted me during the day to see how I was doing. I didn't do so good on my list of wants...

I had to make do with store bought cinnamon buns. I did get a hug and a kiss, so that was a plus. While I didn't get to shoot a nude model, a friend was kind enough to share a nude photo she'd shot, so there's that. And I did end up feeling appreciated and loved. Not a bad haul, all things considered.
