Got a phone call today from a "voter outreach group" representing the Conservatives and Stephen Harper. The woman on the other end of the line mis-pronounced my last name as "Lanlow", but fumbled it so bad I didn't do my usual immediate hang-up.*
She gave me the quick intro and asked the question: if there was a federal election this year, would I vote for Stephen Harper? I said probably not - I mean, he's not running in my local riding, after all, so I can't actually vote for him. "Thank you," she said with an annoyed tone, and hung up.
All of which leads me to believe that Harper is testing the waters for ANOTHER federal run at a majority sometime later this year, while he sense Ignatieff is weak (and probably before the second wave of recession sets in). Sigh. Just what the country needs.
* My general rule with the home phone these days is that if I pick up and no one immediately responds to my hello, I hang up. If the person at the other end asks for a "Mister or Misses", I hang up. If they mispronounce my name, I hang up. If they somehow get past that stage, and introduce themselves as anything other than someone I know or a group I'm invovled with, I hang up. No "Not interested" or "No thanks." Just a cold hangup.
Hunter managed to unearth our copy of Burnout 3 from under the coffee table, where it had been carefully hidden ... I mean, misplaced ... these past few months. As a result, there was about an hour of car explosions enjoyed this evening. He's definitely improved, though. Only twice did he crash into the walls... every other time, it was another car.
