Day 56
Wow. Watched the women's gold medal match in curling today and was really impressed with the level of play. Both the Swedish and Canadian teams were playing top notch, and the victory came down to Canada making one mistake more than the Swedes. I've seen some reporting in the Canadian newspapers calling this "a disappointment", but myself, I was not disappointed at all.
The follow up hockey game between Canada and Slovakia was also pretty intense, setting up the eventual USA vs. Canada gold medal game on Sunday. Slovakia was no push over, and due to an almost Vancouver Canuck-like lapse by the Canadians, nearly came back to tie things up and force overtime. We're lucky to get through.
Hunter's dentist appointment went fine. The experience was pretty traumatic for him, at least in the way that all things are fairly traumatic for a 5 year old. He was most put out after the anesthetic wore off. However, after a couple hours of basically cuddling with me on the couch, he soon recovered. He is quite insistent that we don't do this again, so I've pointed out that brushing his teeth will prevent that.
