EDITED: I'm redacting the rant I formerly had here, because the guy who was being a dick has sincerely apologized.
I do want to keep in place the sentiment I was trying to express to him, and extend it to members of the political Right who are upset with how the 2008 election went down:
Don't threaten to move out of the country becuase of how any single election goes. It's an overreaction, and it just makes you look silly.
It was silly when the Left was saying it in 2004, and it's silly when the Right is saying it now.
As much as I'd personally like the crazy far Right to fuck off to, I don't know, South Africa or someplace (Are there any other crazy-capitalist countries besides the US?), that attitude makes no sense. It's defeatist. You don't like the way the country's going, work to convince the majority that you have ideas worth using.
As much as I'd like to enjoy the sweet, sweet schadenfreude, the dumb just bugs me more.
