Stuff i'm preoccupied with lately

Cycling:  I've come a long way since July 4th, the first time Neil and I did the long bike ride.  Gosh was it really two whole months ago?  Time goes fast.  Anyways.  What a difference that time, and all the shorter bike rides  in between as well as my recently adding running to my fitness regimen, has made.  The first time it took us 2.5 hours.  This time it was just over 1.5 hours.  There was only one time that I had to actually stop and take a breath, and that was the last big hill, Sherbrooke Road, it goes up from Columbia Street (by the Royal Columbian hospital) to 8th avenue.  It's an ass kicker.  I made it up most of the impossibly steep hill on my bike, but the last block, I couldn't pedal any longer, even in my lowest gear, even Neil couldn't do it.   But considering the first time I had to get off my bike three times to get up hills, I feel really good about the difference.  When I got up the  first really really hard hill in Hume Park, I felt so awesome.  I was completely out of breath, but I'm learning to not stop when I feel like that, but rather to ride it out, and get my second wind.  WOOH!    Yep so feeling rather good about that.

Braille:  I'll be submitting my second to the last manuscript submission this week.  My goal is to have the manuscript completed by the time I go visit my parents.  (Sept 25th).  Seems very possible.    I am not in a hurry to start Nemeth after that.  but I am encouraged by my boss to do so. And there will be far more work for me as a Braillist (if I go that route) if I do so.  Therefore, I likely will start Nemeth in October.

Knitting:   One red mitten is complete.  Knitting the thumb was a bit weird at the end.  I hope I didn't screw it up.  It looks fine, just not as perfect as I would prefer.  I've started the second mitten.  I want to try gloves next!
