Spring Anime Preview

Yakuza 4 is in my Playstation and installing. Which is awkward because I'm going to have to go play rent and sleep off some of my debt for the last few weeks first. Meanwhile: as much as I might be wobbly on their coverage, the previews are still the best part of Random Curiosity's site

I do worry that it'll be a bit over the top, yeah, which is a shame as I'd really like a nice slice of life series. Everything else on the preview that comes close seems to either feel off or throw up active warning bells.

it is full of zawa and one of my all time favorites despite having not a single female character in the whole damn thing.

I love Akagi too but I hate that I can't show it to anybody because they're all MAHJONG HOW BORRRRIINNGGGG and I'm like YOU JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND MEEEEEEEEE

I'm just barely looking at the list and the only things I feel like checking out are Toriko (FUCK YEAH FOOD), Hyouge Mono (FUCK YEAH, TEA), C-Control (FUCK YEAH MONONOKE, although I didn't like Kuuchuu Buranko as much). Everything else seems pretty run-of-the-mill to me.

I miiiight check out MariaHolic but I've never seen the first series and despite my usual appreciation of all things gay-lady related, I'm not a huge fan of the way it's usually portrayed in anime.

If it helps I am fully read up on the Legend of Koizumi and I even sat through half of Saki before putting it down and weeping slightly.

MariaHolic is, uh--well it's by SHAFT and kind of wobbles between complete nonchalance and 'we are terrible, terrible people'. It's all played for caricature so yeah it'll be pretty off. (It isn't quite what I'd call the focus of the first series, though.)

Economics in a shounen fighting show? I might need to watch C-Control.

Also looking forward to Fireball Charming, the original's brilliant. I remember my first time seeing a Drossel figure and thinking, "Is that a robo-Miku?" -_-

It's certainly the one I'm most excited about. There's a hell of a pedigree behind it, and a lot of fun whimsical stuff on the website, including a five page 'trader's guide' all about the rules of 'asset transfer' and how to 'liquidate' your opponents etc. etc.
