:-D Thank you! That's quite a compliment coming from you! :-D
My mother-in-law gave me a couple of larger rovings and a bunch of testers of different fibers. For this one, I used a bit of wool roving from Knit Picks that I had hanging around, from a kit. I figured I'd mess up on that as I learned how to do it, without feeling like I was wasting any of the fiber she'd sent.
Once I realized it was going well, I started getting excited about the amazing hand-dyed rovings I've seen, and I immediately pulled up your etsy shop. I'm a little ways off from buying anything at the moment (I still need to simmer my little skein to make sure it actually becomes usable yarn), but as soon as I'm ready, Dyeing For Ewe will definitely be my first stop. :-D I've been drooling over your beautiful colorways for so long! Now I can actually PLAY WITH THEM!
Do you have any tips for keeping the newly-spun yarn in place along the edge of the whorl on a spindle without a notch? Mine doesn't have any notches, and as I started spinning, I realized how helpful (at least while learning) that would actually end up being.
I'm going to have to be 100% honest and let you know that when it comes to spindles I'm really not experienced. I learned on one, but quickly moved to a wheel. Have you been to www.joyofhandspinning.com ? It's a great site. Youtube has some good videos, but you have to weed through a lot of bad as well. Also if you check my groups on ravelry I'm in a kabillion spinning groups, I know there are some just for spindlers as well
