[This is all Jackie's fault.]I have much to understand with these languages, nothing is like what I am used to hearing. Though, none is more confusing then words that hold two very different meanings, but they are still the same word ( Read more... )

who needs buttonhooks, beast master, more weird things, interesting words, time on my hands, the puppy is curious, new experiances, humans are so...strange, city of man, i can speak!, jackie-san, learning english, numbers pffft we don't need no stinking

That does make sense. It would be much more comfortable using simple or colorful words in everyday speech.

It would be easier to use only the formal, but well...humans have a strange need for expressing familiar feelings using simple words.

I think familiarity and colloquialisms make people feel closer to the language... it makes it more personal.

Well, formal language makes people feel distant from it... someone else telling them how to use language. Colloquial language allows someone to give words their own meanings.

And in turn confuse others, but I do see the appeal of it all. I can not complain though, I am sure that my people have done the same thing as well.

Yes, it was the most beautiful city I've have ever seen. With gilded roofs and white stone walls.
