I was going to get on here and be all like "I hate everything, everything sucks" like always, but after reading Nibus "Chuck Norris" post, I can't be sad right now. Thats the funniest thing I have ever read. I laughed like someone was telling me the jokes, not just me reading them. Nibu, you have officially made my day. The funniest thing that I ever heard before that was this conversation overheard in line
Lady "I used to be skinny and fine until I had my kids"
Guy "really, how long ago did you have your kids?"
Lady "my youngest is 16"
Guy "so what, did you have them for lunch or something?"
If you had seen how fat and mad this lady was, you'd be laughing your ass off.
Anyway, on to more important things. I had this conversation about success with some people and how relationships play in that success. Most people seem to be of the mind that relationships hinder personal success. I'm not sure if I agree with that, but one thing I did realize is that relationships involve compromise, and most people who are successful get that way by not compromising anything that is important to them. So I ask myself whether or not I am willing to compromise and I simply don't know. What if the perfect job came along in the Netherlands and I had to up and leave, would I do it? Also, what is the most important thing my life? Again, I don't know... something to consider folks.
On a final note, people who are black but are from latin american countries (with the exception of Costa Rica, Brazil and Panama) are really fucked up. I've been doing some "informal" research on the subject and I've heard everything from "I'm not black, I'm indio" to "I'm just (put name of country here)". That would be fine but I also did research to other extreme (white latinos) and I found extremely different stories. One girl told me "yeah, I'm latina, but I'm obviously white. I can't even tell black latinos from black americans" to one guy that said "I'm not latino, I'm colombian. I'm white, but I'm colombian, which has nothing to do with any other latin american country". I think I may have more in common with white hispanohablantes (most did not like the term hispanic or latino) than with Latinos (of any color). That is odd to me.
