It was six years ago today that Rach and I got married--not so much because we cared about the act of being married, but to keep a dog we didn't keep, and to get an apartment we didn't get.
It took us no more than three weeks to go from "Let's just do this" to saying our vows in the backyard of my dad's house--a place which is now the shallow end of a pool. I tell people that story, and the reaction from them is always the same, "Well, at least it wasn't the deep end."
Between our completely non-traditional wedding to our just up and moving to Baltimore, Rach and I have proven that we're much braver than either of us ever thought we were.
And I'm now a firm believer that a wedding that takes place as more of a joke and a "what the Hell?" mentality can get through much of anything.
