1. Describe the children of #3 and #7? Are they good parents? (Daniel Jackson and Aeryn Sun)
He is nothing at all like John, except when she looks at him out of the corner of her eye or hears him talk about some piece of history that she doesn’t care about. Tell her what matters and she’ll listen. She wants the bottom line.
Their children are nothing like either of them, though they both want them to be and yet don’t. Aeryn teaches the children to use a gun when the boy is six and the girl is five since Little D’Argo (not so little anymore) won’t stop waving his around and showing off for them. She wants her children to be equal. They’re both awful at shooting and he laughs and asks her how good she was when she was their age. She doesn’t tell him, and reminds him instead that they won’t listen to him, either, when he tries to teach them about pyramids that are landing pads for alien spaceships.
2. Describe #5 and #1's first kiss. (Ziva David and Inara Serra)
Inara is gentle (it’s in her nature), but Ziva is fierce, giving in to her need. She presses her lips against Inara’s, turning a soft kiss hard and urgent. Her tongue darts out, and Inara responds, mouth opening in something that is nearly a moan. Ziva smiles against the other woman’s mouth and pulls away briefly before returning to press their already swollen lips together again.
3. How would #2 react to if #6 is pregnant with #10's baby? (Dairine Callahan, Tobias, and Peter Clifford)
Dairine only tries explaining to Nita once how a hawk who’s sometimes a human and a Catholic priest are having a baby. It has something to do with morphing technology, but that’s fairly new to her still, so she doesn’t understand the intricacies. She doesn’t think she wants to know, either.
4. How does #8 convince #7 to go with him/her on a date? (The Doctor and Aeryn Sun)
“Moya, right?” he says. “She’s a beauty.” But he’s looking right at Aeryn, and he hopes she gets the message. There’s something about her and the starts that draws him to her.
5. Where would #9 and #6 go for their honeymoon? How is #4 going to sabotage their honeymoon? (Morgan le Fay, Tobias, and The Lone Power)
There is no way that It wants a powerful sorceress and a member of the Animorphs getting together. True, Morgan has occasionally worked with It in the past. But occasionally doesn’t insinuate a very good track record, and in this case, It is looking for absolutes. It goes back to Tobias’ tree to wait for them, because that old adage about Tobias’ tree is about to come true. It’s not like he has anywhere else to take her.
6. #6 is in love with #1. #3 confesses his/her love to #6. Whom would #6 pick? Does #8 think s/he made the right choice? (Tobias, Inara Serra, Daniel Jackson, The Doctor)
Tobias knows that all men, and a lot of the women, too, are in love with Inara, but he doesn't care. He figures that you can't help what you feel and remains stubbornly in love with her, just like everyone else. But when Daniel comes to him, saying all these crazy things about love and what will they do now that the war with the Yeerks is over, he lets himself take a chance, and gives Inara up.
The Doctor approves. While Tobias and Inara may have been epic in another universe, but here Inara has her own path to follow, and it isn't with Tobias.
7. #5 and #2 must pretend to be a married couple. Why? (Ziva David and Dairine Callahan)
Dairine is young--too young, most of her superiors say--but the government needs more people like her. Not only is she driven, but she has a way of completing seemingly impossible tasks. (The government doesn't know about magic and she isn't about to tell them.)
She is bounced around from one agency to another, never staying long because someone will inevitably start complaining about her age when what they mean is She's too young to be doing things like this. It freaks me out that she's doing stuff that I can't do.
At NCIS, things are a bit better. She sets a personal record for staying in one place the longest, and even Gibbs starts warming up to her, a little. Tony still flirts creepily with her, though, so she hangs out with Ziva a lot to try to get away from him. It doesn't help much, but at least she's making an effort, and besides, Ziva doesn't seem to mind.
She even takes the whole pretending to be married thing in stride. Actually, it's sort of her idea in the first place. She grabs Dairine's hand and says, "We're getting married!"
Dairine goes with it and grins at the man in front of them. He already looks uncertain. "We've been together for five years," Dairine says, "So we figured it was time."
"Today is our anniversary," Ziva adds.
The man has already relented; Dairine can see it in his eyes. "Go on," he says, waving them by.
8. #10 is moving in with #9. What do they fight about the most? (Peter Clifford and Morgan le Fay)
He learns quickly that you meet really strange people in the States. He doesn't learn this quite quickly enough, though, to avoid moving in with one of them. (He blames some of that on the grief.)
Morgan tells him very bluntly, on his third day of living with her that she is a witch. And she doesn't mean in the teenager-rebelling-from-her-parents sort of way. She means in the full-out, I've-been-alive-for-a-few-centuries way. he supposes she can do that because anyone else would think he was crazy if he told them. He believes her, too, because on the second day he saw her bringing wilted flowers back to life in the kitchen. She doesn't know he saw her.
They argue almost constantly about magic and religion. In theory, they come down on opposite ends of the spectrum, but in practice they find that their beliefs are a lot closer. He doesn't think about the last time that happened.
Her tea is wonderful.
9. How will #4 prove his/her love to #1? (The Lone Power and Inara Serra)
It watches her when she is a child. It is so strange that this random arrangement of amino acids has made something so beautiful. Her hair is tousled and her face pale from some fever that the doctors can't cure. This is Its doing, It knows, and It thinks that if she dies maybe It could have her, forever. But she deserves to live, so It stretches out a hand and her hair becomes dampened with sweat.
It's a miracle.
It watches her become lovelier and learn how to beguile men and women, if she chooses. One blink of her painted eyes can send a man tumbling, but It sees past all that, since It had fallen for her long before anyone saw what she was.
It is there the night she makes her first real money.
It watches her as she walks onto a ship to join the crew that looks like it's made up of pirates. She's completely out of place there, but It likes that. it leaves her there, because she's finding her own way now, without Its help.
Nearly.
It leaves her with a needle in a box.
10. #7 and #4. Love at first sight? (Aeryn Sun and the Lone Power)
The evil that radiates off of It is so powerful that Aeryn wants to shoot It almost immediately. That's her solution to most problems, and it tends to be pretty effective, if crude. In this case, shooting has little effect, but it's better than standing around, waiting for It to kiss her, or something.
11. What would #2 give #9 for Valentine's Day? (Dairine Callahan and Morgan le Fay)
Dairine is not one for giving gifts, but for Morgan she makes an exception. In a little shop tucked in a corner, she finds a necklace that reminds her of something--another place, or perhaps another time. After some quick research with Spot, she decides that it's perfect and buys it.
12. Under what circumstances could #3 and #5 have a happy end? (Daniel Jackson and Ziva David)
They meet in Paris where they are both vacationing (which means Daniel is going to libraries and Ziva is following up on some leads off-duty, but it's the close to a holiday that they ever get). More specifically, they meet in a little sidewalk café. (Later, Daniel will say that it is such a cliché.) He is reading and not paying attention and nearly falls into the coffee she's drinking. Not thinking, and shocked by the pull of her eyes, he stammers an apology in Hebrew, because hew as just reading the language. She answers in the same language and then they both stare at each other, realizing what country they're in. "Sit down," she says in French, and she does.
It doesn't work out between them, of course. There are too many classified files between them for anything to last. It's beautiful for those few weeks in Paris, though, and neither ever really forgets the other.
11. What would #8 like to change about #10? Does number #10 approve? (The Doctor and Peter Clifford)
The Doctor sees broken things and wants to fix them. Peter is undeniably broken and grieving when he walks into a phone box, thinking about the last telephone call he made, and instead finds a man. Or something like a man. The Doctor says that he can take Peter anywhere--through time and space--that he can see wonderful things. Peter asks to see Assumpta, but of course that's the one thing the Doctor can't do. Peter agrees, even if he doesn't like it.
12. #2 and #7 are together. Who is more protective of the other? (Dairine Callahan and Aeryn Sun)
No one is sure which is scarier--Dairine or Aeryn alone or Dairine and Aeryn together. Both are fierce and formidable in a fight (though in very different ways) on their own, and together it's the same, maybe even amplified. The end result is that you don't want to be in a position to tell who is more protective.
13. Who is first going to say "I love you", #1 or #9? (Inara Serra and Morgan le Fay)
Neither says I love you, ever.
It is against Inara's policy, because it indicates an attachment that--even if it did exist--is unprofessional and not something she wants to acknowledge. instead she places hot kisses on Morgan's throat and says nothing.
Morgan has lived too long, seen too much, and loved too deeply to believe in the simple emotion that I love you indicates. This is something thicker and more complex that she cannot name and doesn't choose to. She bites Inara's lip and says nothing.
14. Describe #10 and #4's perfect romantic outing. (Peter Clifford and the Lone Power)
This is not about romance at all.
Because Peter still believes in God and definitely still believes in the Devil, he knows this is just about a conversation on differing philosophies. That is all this is and all it ever will be, never mind the fact that It can make Itself look like her and that when It speaks, it's her voice, saying things he never got to hear from her.
15. Who suffers from pre-wedding jitters, #3 or #8? How does bridesmaid/best man #10 soothe them? (Daniel Jackson, The Doctor, and Peter Clifford)
Peter is used to weddings. Catholic weddings, at any rat.e This Protestant wedding is a bit different (though that's due in part to all the aliens). Nevertheless, he feels like he has a pretty good grasp of things, so when Daniel comes to him, twisting his glasses around in an alarming fashion, Peter knows he is walking on solid ground. He smiles and listens to Daniel rant and assures him that though there are many possible outcomes, he's put a lot of thought into this decision and that tends to even the odds. And the it's time.
16. #6 is a secret admirer. What presents will they make the wo/man of their dreams? (Tobias)
Tobias does not know what to buy as a present. He didn't really have a need to do that sort of thing, living with his uncle, so he never got any practice. Then he started living as a hawk, and hawks can't really walk into stores and buy things, so he didn't get any practice then, either. And now...now he has no idea what he's doing.
thoughts
The worst was most definitely Peter and Tobias having a baby. Although the Lone Power/Peter squicks me in a big way, too. Particularly how I wrote it.
I like Ziva and Inara because that is HOT, but my favorite was probably the idea of Dairine being part of NCIS. Though Dairine/Ziva? Not so much.
