Dear Festividder
First off, thank you so much for making a vid for me! These are all tiny, tiny fandoms of my heart, so I will be completely ecstatic to see any kind of vid in any of them. I have no preference for one request over another and can't wait to see what you come up with!
Am very easy-going; I love all kinds of vids in all kinds of genres, and music-wise my tastes are broad and varied, so don't limit yourself there. (I mean, I don't love extreme thrash death metal or pre-teen bubblegum pop, but if either works for the vid you want to make, go for it!) I love finding new artists and songs through vids, so don't worry too much about my tastes.
Am going to add some more details below about these fandoms in case it's helpful, but please do make the vid you want to make, regardless of my requests! The prompts are just that, prompts to hopefully be useful if you're starting with a blank slate and wanting some direction. But if you offered one of these fandoms with an idea already in mind then make that and ignore all of the below.
I've requested nearly all of these sources in previous years, so if you're curious you can poke around the tags for previous letters where I ramble on a bit more about my love for these fandoms.
Apologies for only the one safety fandom and the rest all being TV shows, but if it helps, Jekyll is just the one series, self-contained and only 6 hours of footage; and Spaced is two short series, also around 6 hours long in total. And they're both great shows, obviously!
The Brittas Empire
Something ensembley would be amazing, with all the weekly wacky hijinks of the centre…if you're looking for something a bit more focused, favourite characters are Laura, Gordon (but not in a shippy way), Carole and Tim/Gavin.
I adore this show and not in an ironic, so-bad-it's-good kind of way, I genuinely love it. Blame it on childhood nostalgia or something, I don't know. Series 1-5 were the best for me, with that classic set up of Laura as the sole normal person surrounded by lunatics, and everyone getting their happy endings, so if you want to pretend S6 and 7 never happened that's fine with me. I'm not a fan of the Laura/Gordon pairing, much prefer them platonic as I love their friendship; respect on one side and a mixture of affection/pity/murderous hatred on the other. But this is one of those shows of my heart and there's pretty much no vids out there, so would honestly be thrilled to see anything at all!
Coupling UK
Ooh, anything! Jane's interesting take on life, Jeff's inability to deal with life… I do ship canon in this show (particularly Sally/Patrick), so something gen or something focusing on the canon pairings would be fab.
Not a lot to add to this one! Love all the characters (including Oliver, though felt S4 was the weakest), though Steve/Sally are probably the least interesting to me personally. Adore Sally/Patrick and their messed-up relationship, and Jane and Jeff separately and their own unique ways of dealing with reality.
Jekyll
To me, the women in this show are ALL awesome, so something focusing on the female characters or just one of them or their relationships with each other would be great.
As per the request, I'd really love to see something focusing on the great women of this show. Much love for our Fabulous Lesbian Detectives, obviously. (They so need a spin-off.) Not sure there's really enough footage for a Miranda/Min vid, but would love you forever if you managed it! But if you offered this fandom with an idea for a Tom vid or a Hyde vid already in mind, then go for it, would love to see that too. :)
Jonathan Creek
Love the quirkiness of this show. Jonathan (and the great faces he makes when he's thinking) or Maddy or Jonathan/Maddy (yeah, I ship it)…Anything, really!
This has to be a tough one to vid, so honestly anything at all would be brilliant. Like most of these requests, this is a show close to my heart, so would pretty much explode with joy at any kind of vid. I do much prefer the earlier episodes with Maddy to the later ones after she left, so just using the earlier seasons would be fine with me - though I love Julia Sawalha as well, so no real objections if you want to throw some Carla in there!
Maid Marian and Her Merry Men
Marian is particularly fabulous but so much love for the whole gang and just the whole look and feel and madcap zaniness of the show.
I love this fandom to pieces but can't take it too seriously, so something ridiculous or off the wall would really work for me here. But if you want to take it seriously, that works too. :D I love how tough and smart Marian is and how she never stops trying to do the right thing despite being surrounded by complete incompetents.
Press Gang
A team vid would be fab; Lynda, Kenny, Colin = all awesome, and so much love for Spike/Lynda and their amazing chemistry.
This is another one that's got to be a nightmare to vid, so please don't be restricted by my prompts, they're just ideas. Love this whole show and the newsroom in general - I will love anything you can come up with!
Shaun of the Dead
No idea, would just love to see a vid for this film!
Rewatched it recently and remembered just why it was so brilliant - love the look of it and the direction particularly, so something that really plays with those visuals would be great.
Spaced
Team vid, or something Brian-centric or maybe Tim/Daisy?
Another one of the shows of my heart, so again would be thrilled to see anything. Like Shaun, I love the visuals of this show and the direction, especially all the visual references to other tv shows/films/games. I have a particular soft spot for Brian (adore Mark Heap), and I do ship Tim/Daisy, but love the whole gang, whatever you want to focus on is more than fine with me.
