Let's talk about books, man.

Wah! I miss totallygay81 doing his voiceover here. Oh well.

Is noir the new black? (oui, mais c'est drole en Francais, n'est-ce pas?)(maybe pas.)

  • Akashic has a whole line of regional noir anthologies. Bookslut reviewed Moscow Noir for this month's issue.

  • The LA Times continues to sport a serious noir boner: 20 Noir Essentials in print and film.

  • "Orange County noir" = Savages, by Don Winslow, which I keep seeing seemingly reviewed everywhere, but now that I go back and look, it just looks like Sarah Weinman's reviewing it everywhere, so maybe she just really really likes it.

  • Someone on my twitter list posted a link to this: a gallery of the women of pulp on AbeBooks.

  • NoirCon programming announced: I'm actually tempted by this programming. However, as the con's not taking place at my house, where my dogs can join in the fun, the odds of me actually attending are really pretty slim.

I'm holding out for Vermont Noir. Any takers?

    Buehler?

    Buehler?

Oh! And before I forget, congratulations to strange_selkie on her children's book, City Life, with a bike-riding, farmer's market-going two-mom family bopping around. (Please note, this book is not noir. I am simply hyper and disorganized.)
