Bank of America sucks worse than a cheap hooker, or why we're looking for a new bank.

vogonpoet lost his check card on our last day of vacation in late July. He called Bank of America to have that card canceled and a replacement card issued, which he was told would take five to seven business days to arrive. After two weeks, he called to see why it hadn't arrived yet. They had sent it to the wrong address, even though he had to repeat his ( Read more... )

Credit unions are generally preferable to banks for this (among other) reasons. Unfortunately, I don't know your current area, and I don't think suggestions for Colorado credit unions would be very useful for you.

I don't like them either, but they are the only bank that exists in Boston. Period. :(

We have two accounts. One with BoA for Jon when he is deployed so that he doesn't cause us to over draw our regular account. Our normal, everyday account is through Wachovia. The only problems we've ever had with them, is when we screw it up. lol
I don't know if you have any over there, but if you do, you might want to check them out. I hate looking for banks. So have fun with that. ;)

I second the Wachovia recommendation if you can find them (they just bought out SouthTrust here, thank God, and I'm loving being able to use an account I've had since I was 14 years old for my "mad money").

I know they have Compass Banks in Dallas - we use them for our joint account and have never had any problems. However, I've noticed that depending on the city you're in, they're either in the nicest building in town or the dirtiest part of the ghetto. Nothing in-between! Hopefully, that's not the case in DFW.

Maybe instead of Bank of America they should be rechristened Bank of Idiots.

Odd Datum: Their name used to be “Bank of Italy”. They weren't headquartered in Italy; they targetted Italians immigrants and Italian-Americans as their customer-base.
