Currently in the midst of pre-moving hell, so it's hard to remember just how glorious our vacation was too weeks ago -- but not that hard. We went to Palm Springs for 3 days and Las Vegas for 2, and had an absolutely wonderful time. It was incredibly relaxing and fun and just the change of pace I needed to remotivate me for living my normal life with a little more energy.

Top 5 meals I ate on my vacation:

5. Cheese omelet and bacon made by my husband on a grill using a cookie sheet and an old frying pan. We sat out on the patio in our swimsuits and/or pajamas and drank coffee and basically basked in our vacation schmoopiness.

4. Pasta carbonara with a poached egg on top. Preceded by seared scallops, and followed by espresso and dark chocolate cake at a trendy place in Palm Springs. Even better because our friends gave a gift certificate for the meal as a birthday present!

3. Crab cake sandwich at a little touristy place in Palm Springs. Yes, great seafood in Palm Springs! I was surprised too. I think the best part was the rosemary bread it was on.

2. New Mexican spice-rubbed pork tenderloin with a shrimp-corn-cilantro tamale at Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill in Caesar's Palace. Also accompanied by a yummy cactus pear margarita. I was feeling especially glam at this meal, all dressed up in a new slinky green dress and matching necklace, and buzzed from a pre-dinner Long Island, so all the food had that extra-tastiness that being slightly drunk while eating brings.

1. French Steak Frites with a Roquefort (blue cheese) sauce at Mon Ami Gabi in the Paris resort in Las Vegas. Phenomenal! Also accompanied by a shared appetizer of baked Brie with roasted garlic, hazelnuts, and honey. Even better was that we randomly spotted this place on Yelp about 2 hours before eating there, when I vaguely remembered women from church recommending it. Surprise amazingness is the best kind!

Also there was swimming, and a desert zoo I dragged Brandon to in 103-degree Palm Desert heat, and seeing the Lion King at Mandalay Bay, and Brandon finally beating me in mini golf for the first time ever, and losing money at nickel slot machines, and street fairs, and limo rides for free, and delicious cocktails, and basically having the time of my life at my new favorite thing ever: The Tosspon Annual Birthdays Trip. Only a year until the next one (sadface).

The rest of this week will consist of eating off paper plates, trying to construct something that vaguely resembles a meal out of the remaining contents of our fridge and pantry, trying to endure work without any interns to help with my cases, and moving everything we own from one place to another place this weekend.

Clearly, I need a time machine.
