Email to my mom. She's already voted for McCain.

Well Mom, I want to ask you something:
What will John McCain actually accomplish to improve our country were he to become president?
What has he told the American people his ideas are for overcoming the financial crisis?
What does he want to do that will help reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and other non-renewable energies? (nuclear is not a renewable energy, and from the book I just read about the environment, its long term effects would be far more devastating to the planet than any amount of carbon dioxide.)
What kinds of improvements does he have planned for our education system?
What policies does he plan to pursue to improve the US's image in the eyes of the rest of the world?
Do you like the idea of having your health benefits taxed as income? (your taxes WILL go up from this)
What are his plans for ending (winning?) all the wars we're currently fighting?

Obama has given great detail to the American electoriate about his inteintions for every one of those issues, and probably more I can't think of. He's got a very extensive website.

Now, I've been paying close attention to these campaigns for months. Every time McCain opens his mouth he touts his record and/or experience but his ideas are few to none. He has no goals, except to perpetuate the growth of big business and profits for the upper crust. And then he tears down Obama with any shred of fact or lie his team can come up with. He is divisive, and Palin is even worse. Can't you see that? Everything about his campaign is "us or them" and it's disgusting. His surrogates invoke racism by injecting doubts about terrorism and Muslims...what would be so wrong if he were a Muslim? That rumor is so racist I can't even believe it! It's a disgraceful way to win a contest to the presidency and in my opinion it's extremely telling of what kind of a man he is and the type of political leader he'd be?

And it's hard to forget that McCain used to break with his party's ideals on many things, but as of late, in order to stay viable in the election, he's shifted his stance on numerous topics. It is extremely apparent that he will do anything for aproval from his surrogates, and he also runs a disorganized campaign filled with lobbyists who are only there to protect their interests.

And I'll tell you the biggest thing about him that I dislike, what rubs me the wrong way every time I see it. It's the way he smiles when he takes a jab at his opponent. It's sinister to me, and immature, and reveals to me he doesn't really believe what he's saying, but only trying to score points with voters. It's evidence that everything he says has been scripted or boiled down to talking points that are so dyed into his rhetoric I can't believe he has any of his own ideas. It's evidence he's not in charge of his own image, of his own ideas, or his own decisions.

And your first argument to me against Obama is that he kills babies? If you feel like making abortion illegal is entirely the most important issue facing our country this election cycle then I guess you voted for what you think is important. We can have a disgussion about that another time. However, when I look at facts, behavior, temperament, knowledge, and yes oratory skill, there isn't a single thing about John McCain that compells me to make him my president.
