2013 04 13 CN Blue - Blue Moon World Tour in Singapore Fan Account

CN Blue is a rather lucky band. Although they busked in Japan before their Korean debut, they achieved success so fast with I’m a Loner, that the members admit that they didn’t really have to struggle much.

Most people seems to prefer leader Jung Yong Hwa, understandably so since he’s been the most visible due to his drama stints and variety appearances (I recall reading that his special talent is following the red light to which shows which camera is Live at the moment… so clever! Hahahaha)… I have a softer spot for guitarist Lee Jong Hyun because I prefer his voice, plus, I’ve always felt that he gave a bit of Jaejoong-est vibes in terms of looks.. must be those soft pink lips.

I’ve always wanted to go for one of their concerts after reading good reviews of their London performance, as well as watched some clips of their old concerts, but by the time I got to know about them coming to Singapore, the good seats have been sold out.  I like them, but not enough to fly all the way there and have crappy seats (ahem.. I made an exception for Big Bang tho, since my girlfriend was practically sobbing and begging me to go with her.. I’ll get around to a fan account for that… eventually….)

I even proudly told hubby that I’m going to forgo this concert coz I’ve already committed to watching TVXQ in Malaysia and the tickets are FREAKING expensive… famous last words…

On 20 March, I received a notification on Facebook that the organizer released an additional 500 seats due to a change in staging/seating plans, and my first thought were (i) oh man, the premier ticket holders are going to be pissed off   (ii)muahahaha this is my chance!

Concert’s in the Singapore Indoor Stadium on 13 April, and I managed to get Block 109 Row 6 seat 4, that’s really fantastic for a last minute booking!

This is another fly in-fly out trip - the flight kept getting retimed and I was so anxious that I was cutting it a bit close…   I arrived in the afternoon at nearly 5pm, for the concert which starts at 7pm !!!

Getting to the venue to collect the ticket, I noticed a stark difference from the last time I was there for Big Bang.  This time there was no huge Samsung booth, so there were little or no pre-concert activities for fans.. everyone was dressed quite normally.. no funky 2-toned hair, no spiked jackets or shoes.. everyone also strolled slowly into the venue, there was no sense of urgency..

It was quite an interesting feeling for me.. I knew I would enjoy the concert because I like the music, but there was no heart pumping excitement.. in fact, I walked into the venue at 7.10pm, at the same time as the boys entered the hall…

THEN I got excited when I saw how good my seats were.. Row 6 turned out to be the second row behind the railing! How did that happen???

This is the view from my seat - photo taken from an old iphone without zoom, i think this is the best seat i've every secured for a concert.

The first couple of songs were a little discordant, until they started singing some of the older songs that I knew..

I was at Jung Shin’s side of the stage, initially I was a little bummed but then it turned out to be a blessing in disguise because Avatar was more hardworking, and kept walking to our side, while Jong Hyun spent nearly all his time rooted to one spot.

Yong Hwa was superhyper the whole night, running up and down the stage and he spent a lot of time at the end of the stage near the moshpit.

Depending on which fan account account you read, there were 8,000, 10,000 or 12,000 people at the concert. … all I know was that there was a beautiful blue sea of Boice.

Early in the concert, Jung Shin took off his shoes and ran down to our side, and very proudly proclaimed the entire audience.. “look! No shoes!”

MinHyuk got his spot in the sun in the later part of the concert when the entire drumstage rolled to the center stage.. alas effectively blocking my view of Jonghyun for the rest of the night.

Just a little spot in front of the drums stage

During the fan talk session, they talked about having chilli crabs, and asked for the address of a good restaurant… instead of telling the boys the name of ONE restaurant (all the better to stalk you with, my dear), the audience said “everywhere is good!”… erm… fail [apparently they did have a chili crab supper in their hotel room]

They took their “we’re serious singers we don’t prance dance and do costume changes” very literally… throughout the whole concert, I think they only changed their t-shirt ONCE.

Yong Hwa showed off his tshirt which he got from JJ Lin, and led most of the fan interaction, both in English and Korean. It was quite funny, at one point, he was praising the fans for responding to his Korean, and all the fans eagerly assured him that they could understand, and he immediately went into rapid fire Busan dialect :D  This energizer bunny was literally tearing up and down the stage the whole night making us do the Mexican wave twice.

He also cracked jokes about their new names.. I only recall that he’s DF for Dragon Flower..

The whole show was more rock than their album style, and I’m so happy about that! That’s what you pay to go to a concert for!  All in all, the concert exceeded my expectations because even though it was short, there was so much energy!
