Drabble : Yoochun confesses to Junsu (Chibi)
Morning class was already over in the DBSK Kindergarten for Gifted Animals, but Yoochun still sat in his spot under the big oak tree, pursing his lips in concentration. The little rabbit looked at the pictorial instructions, then at the mess of red yarn in his hands, and heaved a big sigh. His attempts at knitting a wool hat for the cutest lamb in the class, Jun Su, is a bit of a mess, but he is determined to complete the hat as Jun Su has been skipping class due to his bad cold, and with winter coming, the cute lamb would need something to keep him warm. Yoochun knows that when Jun Su grows up, he will have a coat of luxurious wool, but in the meantime, Yoochun will be the knight in shining armour for his damsel in distress. You see, Yoochun fancies himself in love with his best friend Junsu, and intends to confess to him with the handmade gift.
“What are you doing?” asked Jaejoong. The baby lion sat down on his haunches and looked at Yoochun’s hands, his big brown eyes full of curiosity; Chunnie was holding 2 big knitting needles but the little rabbit’s paws were entangled in a clump of messy knots.
“Joongie!!” he whined….. “I’m making a present for Su Su… Omma bought this for me, she said it’s for a good..good… GOOD CAUSE…. But appa said omma just wanted to see the handsome hyung in the video.. it’s a surprise for Su Su because I miss him when he doesn’t come to school..Look at this picture, I want to make one just like this, so that when Su Su wears it everyone will know he belongs to Chunnie..”
Jaejoong nodded, “Oh, that’s really nice … let’s see.. why don’t you make a scarf instead, that should be easier than a hat.. we will get Changminie to help!”
The baby of the group, Changmin, has just started sprouting his antlers, and was very proud of them.. the antlers were only small, but in a few years they will grow as big as his other reindeer hyungs and he will join them on their yearly Christmas sleigh runs.
“Minnie! Come here! Sit down and make yourself useful!” Jaejoong dragged Minnie to the oak tree and sat him down in front of Yoochun.
“What are you doing hyung???!”asked Changmin, as Jaejoong started twirling the red yarn on his antlers. “Chunnie is making something for Su Su, and we need to untangle the yarn first..” said Jaejoong, pleased with his smart idea.
“But.. but.. but.. my antlers!”… “Quiet Minnie… if you help Chunnie, I’ll bring some pancakes for you tomorrow..” Changmin sat down obediently as Jaejoong and Yoochun spooled yard after yard of yarn on his antlers.
On the other side of the oak tree, a curious Yunho peeked at the moving string of red yarn. The tiger cub swatted the string, which moved just out of his reach.. Interest piqued, Yunnie went down on his belly and crept up to the string.. “I’m a hunter.. I’m a slinky hunter and I’m going to get you!” he thought.. one, two, three.. pounce!
“Ouch!!!!!” yelled Changmin in pain, as he was knocked down by Yunho who chose that moment to pounce on the red yarn.
“Yunnie!! What are you doing??!” Jaejoong squealed…
“My Su Su’s scarf!!!” Yoochun yelped..
“Ouch! Pain Pain!!” Changmin squeaked…
Confronted by his three disgruntled and indignant friends, the brave tiger cub Yunho could only stammer, “I’m sorry! What are you guys doing?”
Yoochun sighed, “Omma got me this knitting set from Save the Children, and I wanted to make Su Su a scarf.” Tears started leaking from his eyes as the tender hearted rabbit thought of his poor Jun Su suffering from the cold.
“Omo.. don’t cry Chunnie.. we’ll think of a way!” said Jaejoong with a determined glint in his eyes and squinted at Yunho.
Yunho gulped. He loved his Joongie but sometimes he comes up with the oddest ideas, and Yunho was usually the victim who had to carry out his boyfriend’s harebrained schemes..
Little Joongie put both hands on his hips, and said, “Yunnie, you are going to untangle all this yarn, then knot them together into a scarf for Su Su. Then you can start explaining to me why you didn’t think of doing something like this for me too!”
…..
Two days later, Yoochun, Jaejoong, Yunho and baby Changmin stood at Jun Su’s doorsteps with a big bag. “Hello boys, have you come to see Su Su? He will be so happy, he has missed all of you very much since he had to stay home, but luckily he is getting better and you can see him now,” said Mama Kim.
Jun Su opened his door, eyes wide at the long scarf that his four best friends carried in with them. Yoochun held one end of the scarf, with Jaejoong behind him, followed by Changmin and Yunho.. Yunnie curled the end of the lengthy scarf around his tail, careful not to let the precious scarf get dirty.
“Su Su! We missed you! We made you this scarf so that you can keep warm and not get sick again! It’s all Chunnie’s idea, he was so miserable without you in school” said the irrepressible Jaejoong over Yoochun’s shoulders.
“Wow!!! Thank you so much! I love you Chunnie!” said Jun Su, throwing himself into Yoochun’s hug.
Looks like Yoochun will not have to confess after all.
