Xena the Killer
Xena killed a dove a few minutes ago.
I was out the back with Pegasus, when I heard her bell and knew she was in the area. Then she came jumping over the fence with a dove in her mouth. It wasn't quite dead, and she played with it a bit while she ate it. Pegasus came around to check it out, but left her alone and went back to his ball. Not more than three meteres away were my ducks, blissfully oblivious to all this.
It;'s funny how mostly, my pets leave each other alone. Both cats seem to have a good respect for the ducks. Peggy may have killed a duckling a few weeks ago, but I suspect that as by accident (it may have got trampled as he came up to bark at next door's goat).
Poor dove though. Maybe I ought to be horrified at this, but it's Xena doing what she does best - hunting.Can't say she doesn't live up to her namesake.
