Day 9 : Don't Look Now
Click to viewThis was recommended by a friend. I enjoy atmospheric occult thrillers, especially those in the 70's. I figured with all the accolades it's received, I was in for a treat. However, I still can't tell if it's actually GOOD or not.
Venice was beautiful. The acting was well-done. I just.. it confused me. It made me feel.. well.. stupid. I understood the story, but a lot of the imagery and elements just went right over my head. Everyone seemed sinister, and I started to wonder if he was either already dead or if this was some conspiracy something or other. I was kind of let down by the ending as well. A lot of it totally threw me off, and simply made no sense. It seemed too artsy and almost felt like it had no place.
So, the jury is still out. I can't tell if I'm just not smart enough to *get it*, or if it really is that overrated.
