Piracy on The High Seas

May 31, 2010 02:31

Dear Baroness Ashton,

There’s an unarmed, international, civilian flotilla heading toward Gaza with badly needed food and medical aid. This is prevented from carrying out its peaceful and humanitarian work by the Israeli state and navy, threatening an act of piracy on the high seas, using commandos, missile boats, drones, and helicopters, in pursuit of an illegal, cruel and punitive blockade. In the circumstances, you calling on "all involved to act responsibly" or "with restraint" is a false sort of balance. You can’t be neutral between pirates and their innocent victims. It is time this British government showed a bit of independence, a bit of backbone, and a bit of principle.
