When we first got to New York on Wednesday night there was about an inch or two of snow, but it all melted the next day. They aren't expecting any more for the rest of the time we're here. I really wanted to play in it so that made me sad. Today we ate sushi! Yummy. When I've gone out to eat for sushi, I've written in this journal most of the time, coincidence? My sister Lisa and cousins Jess & Taylor all went to Kabuki and then walked around the shops in Skinneattles. We watched dumb teen movies tonight: John Tucker Must Die and Accepted. Our cousin Emily joined us at my uncle's house while all our parents went out to dinner. We're all girl cousins between the ages of 13-22; I think it's funny it worked out that way. My dad's an only child so we have no cousins on his side. I learned how to play a new card game! My uncle and his girlfriend taught us Pitch. My sister and I were partners and we almost won exciting because I had no idea what was going on at first. Learning new things always brings a sense of accomplishment, especially if you are clueless at first.
Yesterday we had Christmas with the extended family at my grandma's house. We had clam chowder, chilli, bread, and salad; untraditional christmas food, but tasty. I got gift cards mostly and I love shopping, who doesn't? We visited my grandfather in the rehab center earlier that day. He looked pretty good besides being tired; he was happy to see us. He's coming home on the 3rd and the family got him a new tv and they're re-arranging the house to make it more comfortable for my grandparents. Of course they checked it with them before they went and changed up everything. My grandparents are so cute together; it's good he's coming home.
I'm flying to Mobile on the 3rd and driving to Dothan to see Ryan. If anyone's in town between then and the 7th I'd love to see you! Leigh, I know you will, so we will reunite, yay! I read two books over break, I haven't read that much for fun since high school. I wish I had exciting new years plans, alas I don't know anyone in Richmond and we'll be driving back that day/night anyway. Hope ya'll have a happy new year!
