The last 30 seconds of the Rose Bowl were the longest and saddest seconds of my life. It was genuine heartbreak. And even though we have won games in less than 30 seconds, I was filled with doubt.
It's the first time I've ever truly doubted my Trojans.
But if I had to pick a team to lose to, it would most certainly be the Texas Longhorns. Not only did I meet the nicest and classiest Horns fans, I found myself justifying our loss by celebrating their victory. What?
I suppose it is the only way to prevent me from hanging myself from the uprights at the Rose Bowl stadium. Whatever works.
But honestly, they have made a Texas fan out of me. I know, I'm probably causing Trojan uproar, but why not support the team that finally defeated us? I suppose it would be too humbling to actually accept that there may be a team equal to us (not better, though). We are both great teams. We both deserved a win. But Texas came out on top.
I still love my Trojans. I think that they are no worse than the Longhorns. I would love to see a rematch in the near future, but I don't predict it. So, with that said, I will continue to root for our talented Trojans, but I will secretly be cheering for the Horns as I do my daily checks of espn.com.
Up next - Trojan basketball. Hey, you never know.
Fight On Trojans! And Hook 'em Horns!
