Artist's Notes: I am particularly proud of this, because I didn't use a reference! I abuse reference pics like mad, but no! An overdose of Carbon Leaf and Angie Aparo was enough to bring this one into being.
I've seen a lot of artists do this flat, neutral-tone coloring, with no shading and an equally neutral background, but my own attempts at it always fall short. I'm still trying.
This is Nephele. She is sixteen years old, disgustingly upbeat and innocent without being naieve. Cade (who will appear later) has dubbed her Magpie for her habit of snatching up shiney and pretty things. The two of them live on a techworld, Siun, where the natural flow of magic is squeezed out in 'bubbles' through the press of enormous metal cities. Mages are generally frowned upon out thataway. The two of them are trying to change the system from within. It's somewhat complicated.
I know that 'Spirit' is probably interpreted to mean 'ghost' a lot, but I wanted to do something that showed the personality type of spirit. Neph takes every opportunity to be carefree and enjoy the little things, and I hope that worked out!
No one on Siun would dress like this, but Neph has a sharp eye and eclectic taste. And Cade indulges her terribly. Besides, I wanted to do dipping skirts!
