Jia often inspires me, because she is awesome. In this case, she inspired me to do the next contest! It's a somewhat like #13, with choosing images, but I added a bit of a twist.
Oh, I love the idea! Now I just need to wait for some freetime. ♥ (And, personally, you guys giving images makes it all the more entertaining -- esp. since we get to see what areas and images greatly attract people. [/sociology nerd])
Well, just from a quick tally, there were only two sets from the flower picture. Of the forty-three other sets, four were done of the night time streetscape, twenty-two of the misty forest scene, and seventeen of the ocean&rocks image
( ... )
What I found most surprising from the entries to the contest was that, for icon #4, most members blended the second image into the first. I know that's what I did in my example, but I expected more 'little picture in a box within a bigger picture' icons and less blending.
I wonder how many of the trends were influenced substantially by the example icons? Also, I'm very interested to hear about any conclusions (or hypothetical conclusions) you can draw from your data. ^^
I don't know what's up with you people being inspiring. I very rarely make icons otherwise, but you make me want to make pretty things. I'm tempted to try to do a 6x6 set and then figure out what to submit.
Could you please recomment with these entries as a new comment (not a reply to one)? It makes things much easier to do when I'm putting up the entries for voting and such. :)

That's a really interesting statement. What exactly do you mean by it?

I love this idea; i'll probably participate. I have Exam Season now, though, and that tends to mess things up.
But, yay.
