Spent half the evening yelling at the livestream in frustration, since it was wont to freeze every time one of the teams got anywhere near the goal.
Germany 2:1 Scotland. Wow. So that was quite unconvincing. Way more so than the 4:2 defeat to Argentina in last week's friendly, which was mostly just young 'uns + bad luck. This time it was just... not awesome.
Firstly, who is Rudy, and why is he wearing the #7 shirt? Is Basti getting it back when he's back? Or is he moving on to another number? I hope not. Anyway, despite assisting the first goal, Rudy is no Lahm down the right back. I am concern.
Müller got both of Germany's goals and also a yellow card for flagrantly tugging an opponent back in the final moments. This is why I can't bring myself to fully support him, even though he's tremendously amusing 90% of the time. Some Scottish guy converted two yellows into a red, although the second yellow seemed a little unfair. (Could it be physically possible to be penalised for time-wasting when you're on the losing side?)
The problems are mostly the expected ones, I think. Still figuring out the back 4 (who, incidentally, need to RUN BACK FASTER). Scotland playing 4-1-4-1. I also think that Kroos doesn't function as well when he's played deep. I prefer him more as #10 and supplied by the deeper midfield. Götze and particularly Schürrle were a bit lacklustre this match, but that happens and it is what it is. Not having Özil down the left flank also made itself felt, I think.
Reus hobbled off in the final minutes with an ankle injury. Looked bad. :-/
Very cagey.
