Don't read this once you wake up. Seriously, wait until later, after getting home from school/work.
So, I couldn't sleep. Too excited for my friend to come over, I guess (in 30 minutes!), so I turn on my computer and check twitter. And from @safeworld4women, I see this disgusting article about that horrible video game, "RapeLay". Needless to say, the article's description of the game warrants a trigger warning.
'RapeLay' video game goes viral amid outrage What pisses me off here is not only that this game exists, or that it's now available online for free. It's the censorship issue.
Yes, censorship is bad. Violent video games don't necessarily make kids violent. Banning games is stupid. I totally agree.
But this piece of shit's OBJECTIVE is to sexually abuse an entire family after the protagonist molests a girl on a train and the girl speaks out and RIGHTFULLY accuses him. That's right. He rapes the girl, her mother, and her sister because HE molested her on a train and she tries to BRING HIM TO JUSTICE.
And when you consider that molestation on trains is a VERY SERIOUS ISSUE in Japan, and is very, VERY rarely reported, this game is like a threat to any girl who doesn't want to keep quiet, isn't it?
This isn't just a video game.
Now I have a headache.
