And so the Nerd High continues...
Yes, I feel a strong need to watch the LOTR trilogy again. Because I feel like I may have missed some important things. And my GODS THOSE MOVIES ARE SO AMAZING!!!!!
In my Northwest Ecology class the student teacher does a lot of PowerPoints, often with either pictures she took or pictures she thought were cool and illustrate the point. Today, when talking about unstable environments and how r-strategists can survive in them, she used a picture of Mordor! (She saw the movies before going to New Zealand.) She explained why Mordor applied, and I asked "so Orcs are r-strategists?" and all sorts of geekiness ensued.
I'm kind of feeling nerdy for all sorts of Sword & Sorcery Fantasy stuff. Between all the Emilie Autumn I've been listening to lately (I finally have the entire "Opheliac" album!), the King Arthur unit in Myth/Bible, and LOTR, it's not surprising.
Now that I finally have "Opheliac", I demand EVERYONE ON THIS PLANET listen to Emilie Autumn. You can hear her music here:
http://www.youtube.com/user/wingedzephyr Yeah, we just finished a King Arthur unit in my Myth/Bible class. And OH MY GODS SIR THOMAS MALORY'S STORIES WERE SO BORING! At least the Lancelot stories we read. The writing was so bland and childish. The death story was more interesting. But now I MUST read The Mists of Avalon. We read an excerpt from it, and I think I was the only one in the class who liked it. Everyone else was bitching about how "whiny" Morgaine was. (I mean, WTF seriously?!) But yeah. When we finished the unit, we watched, wait for it... Monty Python and the Holy Grail, which is even funnier after you've read the stories. XD
Now I REALLY REALLY need to start play Dungeons & Dragons. Really need to.
