ANGELA AND HODGINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'd read about it, in the spoilers, but...Oh My God. OH MY GOD! They were...it was...and the fact that they both talked out the break up...and the LOOKS on their faces. And that sheriff throwing the confetti...COME ON. Amazing. It was amazing. They were...amazing. All that had to happen was getting them together in the same place at the same time. That's all that we needed.
(Can't we put B/B in a confined space? Why haven't they ever been jointly kidnapped? I'd love to see that episode.)
I actually really liked the mystery, and the way it worked out - it was an interesting filler case (I can't call the episode filler, because, well, I don't know if you heard, BUT ANGELA + HODGINS = HODGELA FOR LIFE, NO, FOR REALZ). Cam's reaction to the sheriff was golden (It was like arguing with one of the founding fathers). Sweets...Sweets has been just so great this year, striking the perfect balance between dorky/young and smart (loved Hodgins's referencing what Sweets told him about sustained happiness, and Angela knowing where it came from - "Kids got the goods.").
The end scene?
The end scene.
Um.
Look.
Booth?
I think maybe he's decided...and I don't know this for sure, or from any spoilers...but these are not the actions of a man who has given up. These are not the actions of someone who has decided to move on.
These are not the actions of anyone other than Booth, who is still so in love with Brennan that he's nearly lighting himself on fire in public.
Observe:
Booth: Want to know what I wished for?
Brennan: No. Doesn't matter. Completely irrelevant.
Booth: I wished...I wished that you could find happiness.
Brennan: I don't know what that means.
Booth: Happiness. Love, laughter, friendship, purpose. And a dance. (all the stuff, if you will)
Brennan: Oh. Well, then. Thank you.
Let's think about this. Put on our little thinking hats. Maybe make ourselves a thinking drink.
If we were Booth....
And we were being Boothy (of course we are....
Laughter
(He laughs more with her than he does with anyone. Catherine is funny, but it's in a normal way, and he probably would have been incredibly charmed by it seven years ago, but he's not, now. Not when Bones has this way that she smiles, like she's making a discovery, every time she cracks a joke, and her childlike wonder at the process makes it almost new for him. Being with her is like understanding the world, again, but better, because her deep, full laugh is the soundtrack.)
Friendship
(They are best friends. No. Really. Neither one can think of another person in their lives with whom they feel so comfortable. And that's what your best friend is, it's the person who you can be your worst around, and who can still make you feel like you are the very best person they've ever met. That's something more than your lover, or your boyfriend - that's a person who knows you, the good, the bad, who has seen you do bad things, and sometimes been the victim of them, and still says, you know what? Fuck it. Having you in my life makes it infinitely better than if you weren't. And I'm taking, like, half your fries/well, I'll haunt you when I die/I'll just mock your stupid ghost/and O'Brien might be relating one of her conversations that she had with a friend earlier tonight.)
Purpose
(She cannot live a purposeless life, and neither can he. As much as he feels duty, like a weight, like a burden (but more like those wings she once wrote about), she feels it, too. Because she wants to know the truth. More than anything, she wants the truth, and he gives her that path, a way to find it, and she gives the same to him, and they give each other purpose.)
And a dance.
(Maybe under the stars. This? Right here? Is the most obvious thing. Because neither one of them will ever forget about that dance.)
Love
(He knows that she loves him. He knows it in the same way that he knew, when he first looked at Parker's face, that the baby was his son. It's a visceral, strong reaction, something he feels in his gut and in his chest. Because he believes in fate, and he's her guy, too, and he's that guy, the guy who knows. Seeing her, even the first time, made something deep within him feel like it was being pulled, reeled in, because it all just felt like his. And he used to think that maybe it was one-sided, maybe it was all just him, but he has known for a long time that it wasn't, and it's confirmed again. Because she says, "Thank you," and she means it, because she wants all the stuff, too.)
So. We've finally resolved Angela/Hodgins, and they're all married and awesome, and Cam better get a guard for the Egyptology store room, because those crazy kids have some time to make up for. I'm still getting caught up on recaps - obviously. I have the (attainable? Insane?) goal of being caught up by the finale, because I kind of have a crazy idea about that...anyway. This week, show was adorable. I'm just saying.
Also, about posting DL links: I hate to say it, but please don't post them in the comments. Now, if people happen to message one another, I know nothing about that. But the past few weeks, it seems at least one link has been posted, and peoples, you're awesome, but I wish not to be caught in any shenanigans.
Also, ALSO: OMG NEXT WEEK NO WE DIDN'T GET A PREVIEW BUT YES I KNOW WHAT IT'S ABOUT AND I'M PRETTY MUCH DYING!!!!
