There was a c-section on a pug, and I got to watch and help with the puppies! I've never seen a c-section before, and it was really interesting. The incision was really large, and then the doctor basically pulled the uterus out of the body and cut it open, and then cut the placenta open to get at the puppy.
And that wasn't even our only pregnant dog today! We also had a chihuahua that came in late and only gave birth to the first of her puppies before we had to send her off to the 24 hr. clinic, but I got to rub the puppy and warm it up. All in all, I got to help with three different newborn puppies; it's very satisfying.
